'A LOT OF GOOD MOMENTS': NASH UPBEAT BUT ADMITS TWO ROAD POINTS DROPPED AFTER DRAW

The Nine Stripes took the lead late on against Edmonton but conceded an equalizer shortly after.

Gaffer Martin Nash is unhappy York United allowed a pole position slip in the 1-1 draw with 10-man
FC Edmonton on a snowy Friday night at Clarke Stadium.

This leaves The Nine Stripes without a win in two matches of the 2022 campaign; with just one point
on the board.

"To be fair, I thought we had a lot of good moments," Nash said in his post-match conference.

"We controlled possession for most of the game but didn't create as much as I would like. But they're
a very good defensive team. They're solid, they're organized, they don't give you a lot of opportunities
and they're very good on the counter."

York United were head and shoulders above the Eddies on Matchday 2 and deservedly snatched
a go-ahead goal on 82 minutes through Osaze De Rosario. The recent signing let fly a scorcher
from outside the box to open his goal account for the club on his very first start.

But the hosts struck back just three minutes later when Masta Kacher slotted home from inside
the area.

"It was a good goal," Nash said of Osaze's strike.

"I thought we took it well but that we panicked a little bit and maybe were a little bit rushed.
We didn't calm ourselves and get to grips with the game. And they [FC Edmonton] had great energy
and enthusiasm to try to get back into it. We didn't deal with it too well."

In the closing stages, FC Edmonton were short handed after CJ Smith got sent off following a scuffle
with Diyaeddine Abzi.

Honours even at the end but a bitter pill for York United to swallow considering their territorial
dominance [ 63% ball possession] and shots on target; seven compared to the four by the Eddies.

Nash added: "We knew that this team doesn't give up as you saw last week. They fight to the bitter end
and they have a fantastic team spirit. I just felt we didn't close out the game the way we could have.
It's something we have to look at. It's early on in the season but you get a lead late on, how do you
protect it and how do you deal with it? We didn't do that very well, in my opinion, but I'll get a chance
to look back at it with clear eyes and we'll go from there."

Up next for the group is a home game against Calvary FC at York Lions Stadium on Friday, 22nd April which
pits Nash against the club where he served as an Assistant Coach between 2019 and 2021.
