YORK UNITED FC SELECTS CHRISTIAN ROSSI AND SOJI OLATOYE IN 2022 CPL - U SPORTS DRAFT  

Rossi was Rookie of the Year in 2021 while Olatoye also enjoyed an excellent season with York University.

York United FC is thrilled to announce Christian Rossi and Soji Olatoye as their picks for 
the 2022 CPL - U SPORTS Draft.

With the fifth selection in Round 1, the club chose Rossi, a 19-year-old attacker from Trinity Western 
University in British Colombia. A native of Surrey, BC, the teenager enjoyed a standout debut season, 
notching five goals in 10 appearances and also contributed one assist. In total, he played a part 
in nine of the team's 17 goals. His performances were so impressive that Rossi won the Lou Bilek Award 
as the U SPORTS Rookie of the Year.

With the fifth selection in Round 2, the club chose Olatoye, a 22-year-old winger from York University 
in Ontario. A native of Brampton, ON, he started seven games and scored five goals while adding 
four assists. In addition, three of Olatoye's goals were game-winners and he was rewarded for his 
contributions with a place in the U SPORTS Second-Team (All-Canadian).

Rossi and Olatoye will now be invited to York United's preseason training with the hopes of securing 
a 2022 U SPORTS Development Contract for the upcoming season that allows a student-athlete with 
one to four years of U SPORTS eligibility remaining to sign with a CPL Club, while preserving their 
eligibility before returning to U SPORTS competition.
