MLS NEXT PRO NEWS New England Revolution II bounce back in 1-0 win over Toronto FC II By Jesus Tellitud @JesusTellitud Saturday, May 14, 2022, 08:34 PM New England Revolution II got back in the win column following a 1-0 victory over Toronto FC II at BMO Field Saturday evening. The win marked the first road victory of the season for the visitors as Revs II looked to rebound from last week’s 4-0 defeat to Columbus Crew 2. After a scoreless first half where neither team managed a shot on target, forward Marcos Dias scored the lone goal of the match in the 47th minute. The goal was the first of the season for Dias as he slotted the ball into the bottom right corner. Not to be outplayed at home, TFCII hunted for the equalizer all second half through quick counterattacks. However, the Revs II back line held firm despite TFCII outshooting the visitors by two shots. With the win, Revs II moved to second in the Eastern Conference. For TFC II, the club’s first home loss and second consecutive defeat came in the first match of the season the club was held scoreless. The Story: Marcos Dias opens his account for Revs II A 1-0 win might not be the most convincing team result for New England Revolution II, but for 20-year-old Marcos Dias it’s huge. The Brazilian forward marked his first goal of the season for Revs II this week after not scoring in the past six games. This might be the turning point the young striker was looking for as he came on loan from Brazilian club Vasco de Gama where scored 21 goals last season. Now with just first MLS NEXT Pro goal to his name, Dias will certainly look to build momentum to rack up the goals for a Revs II squad that has just two goals in the last four matches after opening the season on fire with eight goals from the first three matches.
