wide right of post.
42 min...W Pavan receives tap back pass and blasts 22 yard shot that deflects wide left of net.

him in the trip-up.
50 min...Woodbridge Kadiebue Kadiebue is tripped up in the right side of the NM box and referee Melvin Christopher
awards a Penalty kick.

Final Score: Woodbridge Strikers.........2.......North Mississauga SC.......3......

Attendance was, I'd estimate, 60 people.  It had rained some in the afternoon before the game but during 
the game we had about one minute of rain twice during the first half and then a harder rain during 
intermission that eventually stopped sometime early in the second half.  Fans knew what would happen 
so many had brought umbrellas.  Also parkas were worn as the nights are still cold...welcome to May!  

Thanks to the L1O game day official for when I came over to get the 'media' copy of each team's roster 
at halftime let me stay covered by the umbrella under the fourth official's table for the second half. 
That will be why my photos tonight will always have Woodbridge running to the left of the picture.    

The club decided to use their field turf field rather than the main grandstand's field of natural grass.  
That made sense tonight as the grass would have been chewed up for a week if it had been stomped on this 
early in the season.  A team official said the men's team actually prefers the field turf for any game 
so I'll be watching their choice later in the season.  The scoreboard for the field turf field doesn't 
work but the main field scoreboard was being operated except that fans would have to turn backwards 
to see how much time was remaining.  

Just before I drove here, I watched the last ten minutes of the Concacaf Women's U-17 Round of 16 game 
between Canada and Honduras.  Playing on a waterlogged field in the Dominican Republic with mud 
in the 6 yard boxes and puddles on the field, Amanda Allen scored Canada's fourth goal.  She plays 
on the Woodbridge SC OPDL team so may have honed here skills on the natural grass field here 
at Vaughan Grove. 

This turned out to be a very competitive game with the turning point coming with two goals in two 
consecutive minutes giving the Panthers the tying and winning goals starting at 75 minutes.  Woodbridge 
defender Matthew Trasente was injured and was receiving treatment just before these two goals 
and was eventually subbed off a few minutes later.  Who knows if his presence would have made 
a difference on either play? 

Both benches were very vocal about the calls and had to be ordered to sit down many times.  
North Mississauga's co-head coach Ramin Mohammadi was in charge tonight and kept asking how much 
longer the injury time would drag on.  The other co-head coach, Peyvant Mossavet, had to watch 
the game from the stands because he wasn't here within the league imposed time before a game started 
to join the bench.  He had been up to North Maple Regional Park, 20 minutes away by car, to coach 
the North Mississauga Women's L1O team in their game with Vaughan Azzurri.    

Referee Melvin Christopher gave out five Yellow cards (three to North Mississauga) and a direct Red 
during the game saving them all for the second half and three cards from 89 minutes onward.  Wheee! 
If every sliding tackle earned a card on this wet turf there would have been a lot more. League stats
also list NM Nicola Russo as also picked up a Yellow but I didn't notice when). 

Chris Campoli scored the winning goal for North Mississauga.  He played for L1O Unionville Milliken 
last season after being drafted in the CPL-U Sports draft by CPL York United FC the year before.  
This year he was drafted by CPL HFX Wanderers and lasted until the day before rosters were announced 
and sent back to the L1O for 'more seasoning'.  His brother Fabio was listed as an assistant coach 
for this game.  

Adel Rahman was playing as a midfielder for Woodbridge.  This is the first time I've seen him on 
a club which does not have his brother Navid as a teammate.  That follows the first time I saw 
the brothers emerge with Pro Stars FC which joined the L1O in 2015 until last year when they were 
both on 1812 FC Barrie for its one season of operation.  Navid is playing this season 
for Blue Devils FC. 

North Mississauga improve their record to 1 win, 1 loss for the second week of the season.  
With all games completed by the time I got home they've been placed 11th in the standings because 
of goal scoring difference of '0'.  Woodbridge's record falls to 1 win, 1 loss and they're 
positioned at 8th because of their goal scoring difference of '+5'.  A win at this early stage 
of the season shoots you up in the standings in this unruly 22 team division.  The cut-off line 
is twelfth combining points with 2023 to survive the division split for the start of 2024.  

Woodbridge's Week 3 game is Sunday May 8th on the road at Ron Joyce Stadium against Hamilton United 
at 9:00pm.  North Mississauga will next play Friday May 6th at their new Churchill Meadows home 
against FC London at 8:30pm.
