ANGUS MCNAB DISCUSSES HEAD COACH CHANGE, THE SEARCH FOR A SUCCESSOR AND PROVIDES ROSTER UPDATE The York United FC CEO/President & GM reveals details about candidates for vacant role. York United FC CEO/President & GM Angus McNab has revealed the club is 'deep into the process' of recruiting a new Head Coach. Speaking to Eoin O'Callaghan during the end-of-year special edition of Added Time: The York United Show on Sauga960AM, McNab admitted the decision not to extend Jimmy Brennan's contract was a difficult albeit necessary one while he also gave a detailed update on the litany of candidates who have expressed an interest in the position. "Change is never comfortable and it shouldn’t be if you’re striving to build the best possible organization we can," McNab began. "It was a very tough decision to not take up Jimmy’s contract option for 2022 but ultimately it’s about building what we feel is going to be sustained success and drive us on and move us forward, not just in the CPL but with an eye on the prize of CONCACAF Champions League and continental qualification in the future as well." "While it was great to make the playoffs, it was after reviewing things with ownership that it was time to make the change and move on. We’ve had over 30 notes of interest - from applicants themselves, from their agents - both domestic and internationally. From that, I’ve probably completed about 20 hours of Zoom calls and presentations with five overseas and five domestic candidates to this point on their vision, footballing philosophy, what they like about our roster, our program and how they would take it forward. We are deep into that process." In a wide-ranging conversation, McNab also discussed some roster updates for 2022 while expressing some slight dismay at how only one York United Under-21 player was shortlisted for the CPL's annual award. "Max (Ferrari) being nominated is fantastic but I actually feel we're a little hard done by as a club. We've probably got Isaiah (Johnston) and Lowell (Wright) who should be knocking on the door for nominations as well. When you look at the contribution Isaiah made with his minutes in particular, and his goals, I think he very much warranted being in the top-three conversation."
