Match Report: Toronto FC II's homecoming sees hosts hold Greenville Triumph SC to scoreless draw By USLLeagueOne.com Staff, 07/30/21, 6:00PM EDT TFC II'S NEAR TWO-YEAR WAIT TO RETURN TO BMO TRAINING GROUND SEES GOOD PERFORMANCE RESULT IN POINT EARNED TORONTO - After a nearly two year wait for a return to BMO Training Ground, Toronto FC II’s first appearance at the ground saw them hold Greenville Triumph SC to a 0-0 draw that saw the visitors go down to 10 men in the 39th minute, though TFC II’s attack ultimately could not overcome the man advantage for a decider. Greenville looked first to score, having a good look at goal in the 27th minute when a cross came toward forward Marios Lomis in the box, but Lomis’s header was well saved by TFC II goalkeeper Caleb Patterson-Sewell as the game stayed level. Lomis again loomed Greenville’s biggest threat, and again forced a stunning saved out of Patterson-Sewell in the 30th minute as he deflected a curling effort toward the far post that the ‘netminder had to parry clear at the last moment. The Reds did manage to test the Triumph once in the first half as forward Garrett McLaughlin broke forward on a breakaway only to have his effort saved by goalkeeper Dallas Jaye. Coming out of the second half, Toronto FC II again threatened as a quick start saw them come close to the opener in the 52nd minute, though midfielder Kosi Thompson’s header from a central position could not find the target at the back post. Both sides had a look at goal throughout the entirety of the second half, but 10-man Greenville savaged a point against Toronto FC II, who will have to wait for their first win since their return. Both teams have home fixtures coming up next week, with TFC II hosting the Richmond Kickers on August 6 and Greenville welcoming South Georgia Tormenta FC to Legacy Early College the following night.
