FINAL MATCH OF 2016 REGULAR SEASON By Rochester Rhinos , 09/23/16, 9:30AM EDT Rochester faces Toronto FC II this Saturday with a home playoff match on the line ROCHESTER, NY (September 23, 2016)- The Rhinos face Toronto FC II in their final match of the 2016 regular season at Rochester Rhinos Stadium this Saturday. This match is a must win for the Rhinos if they hope to host a first round playoff match at home. The team is currently 12-5-12 heading into their final match of the regular season, and are 0-1-1 when facing Toronto FC II. Both of the previous two matches between the teams were held in Toronto. In the most recent meeting between the two teams, Toronto fought for a late 77th equalizer off the foot of Skylar Thomas. Christian Volesky saw his continued success against Canadian teams with a goal himself that night. The game can be viewed live on the USL Match Center Steevan Dos Santos has shown proven success in both games challenging the Toronto defense. The teams leading shot taker proved that he could get past the Toronto defense and pose an attacking threat. The Rhinos offense has been playing well together recently and hopes to carry that momentum over into this weekends match. The first meeting between the teams was a nail biter with two stoppage time goals in the final minutes by both teams, the Rhinos late goal coming from Joe Farrell. Bradley Kamdem also had a strong performance against the team from up North, and has been dominating the Rhinos wing lately. He is sure to be a player to watch this upcoming weekend. The Rhinos are Rochester's only professional team currently playing as the team heads into the playoffs. The Rhinos will step out to the pitch with purpose on Saturday, fighting for a chance at home field advantage heading into the playoffs. The Rhinos need to end with three points, but also need help from the rest of the conference. A Charlotte loss, combined with a Charleston loss, means the Rhinos will return home for playoffs and finish fourth. Christian Volesky leads the team in scoring with ten goals heading into Saturday’s match. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. with gates opening at 4:00 p.m. Saturday will be a special night for the Rhinos as they recognize First Responders from the local area. A pregame soccer match will be help before gates open between First Responders, followed by a 4:00 happy hour in the Genesee Brew House Beer Garden. First Responder vehicles will be stationed throughout the concourse for families to visit and get to know the men and women who serve our community on a daily basis. Fun will be head at halftime with a donut eating contest with First Responders participating. Also Saturday, the Rochester Rhinos will be inducting their 2016 Hall of Fame class. Inductees include the voice of Rochester sports Don Stevens, as well as former Rhino’s players Michael Kirmse and Bill Sedgewick. There will be a ceremony at half time, as well as time pregame for fans to sign autographs with the inductees as well as other previous Rhino’s Hall of Famers. In addition to these events, there will also be a college fair at Rhinos Stadium when gates open. Over a dozen colleges will be in attendance for prospective students to shop around and plan their future.
