Match Recap: Toronto FC II vs. Charlotte Independence September 4, 2016 7:04PM EDT Adam Krueger The Young Reds dropped a tough one to the Charlotte Independence this afternoon at the Ontario Soccer Centre. TFC II did not get off to the start they were looking for. A mad scramble off a corner would land at the foot of the Independence skipper Patrick Slogic who slotted home his 3rd goal of the season. The Independence would strike again before half after Alex Martinez was able to get in one-on-one with Clint Irwin. The Uruguayan would finish to the bottom corner to make it 2-0 Independence. The bright spot in the first half was the play of TFC keeper Clint Irwin. Making just his second start for the Young Reds, the keeper made two impressive saves to keep the score where it was into the half. The Independence would score another goal just 10 minutes into the half to make it 3-0. For Estrada it would be his fourth of the season. The Young Reds would find the back of the net thanks to a superb run by midfielder Brian James. The 22 year-old blasted home his shot from outside the box into the top left corner. The Independence would add two more goals late into the second half. The final score would be 5-1 for Charlotte. Toronto FC II is back in action next Sunday vs. Orlando City B as they close out their 2016 home schedule. Kickoff is set for 7:30 PM.
