Bethlehem Steel FC fall to Toronto FC II in a thrilling 3-2 affair

Ryan Richter’s beautiful free kick not enough for Steel FC

VAUGHAN, Ontario (July 6, 2016) – Bethlehem Steel FC fell to Toronto FC II, 3-2, Wednesday night
at Ontario Soccer Centre. They club will finally return home to Goodman Stadium on Sunday, July 10,
following a five-game road trip.

The game did not start well for Steel FC, as they conceded just two minutes into the game.
After a broken play, the ball found its way to Luco Uccella, who beat the outstretched Samir Badr
at the far post to go up 1-0.

Just as Bethlehem was starting to reestablish their footing, Toronto FC II’s Shaan Hundal played
a long ball to Bubacarr Jobe, who danced around a rushing Badr and slotted it in to the back
of the net for a 2-0 lead.

Steel FC got a golden opportunity in 38th minute after Anthony Fontana danced around a few
defenders and was fouled right outside the 18-yard box. Captain Ryan Richter stood over it,
and easily curled the ball over the wall and into the top left corner of the goal, where
it went to halftime at 2-1.

In the second half, Bethlehem came out fast and physical. Trying to carry the momentum, they
led attack after attack. Unfortunately, this momentum eventually faded, as Liam Fraser was
able to hit a sniper of a shot off of a free kick rebound in the 63rd minute.

But, Steel FC didn’t take too long to answer. James Chambers picked up the ball on the left
and swung the ball into Joshua Heard, who made no mistake to score his first goal
of the season. At 66 minutes, Steel was back down one, 3-2.

This led to a great back and forth for the remainder of the match, but unfortunately
for Steel FC, Toronto FC II held on to the lead until the final whistle.

Steel FC return to Goodman Stadium on Sunday, July 10 to face Pittsburgh Riverhounds at 4 p.m.
Single game and group tickets are available by visiting bethlehemsteelfc.com

The team will follow it up with five more home games against Harrisburg City Islanders,
Rochester Rhinos, Toronto FC II, and Charlotte Independence.
