WFC2 draw 1-1 against Toronto FC II as preseason preparations continue March 7, 2016 10:33 AM PST Brandon Timko BURNABY, BC – Whitecaps FC 2 (WFC2) continued their preseason on Sunday with their first friendly match against USL opposition. The ‘Caps took on Canadian rivals Toronto FC II at Simon Fraser University, battling to a 1-1 draw. Head coach Alan Koch fielded a lineup with seven Canadians included. The lineup also featured four first team players, including first round SuperDraft pick Cole Seiler, and midfielders Erik Hurtado, Nicolas Mezquida, and Marco Bustos. After a scoreless first half, WFC2 broke the deadlock shortly into the second half. Striker Daniel Haber scored his third goal of preseason, ripping a curling shot from the right side of the box for a 1-0 lead. As the rain came down the match went back and forth before the visitors found an equalizer on a scramble in the box as Darius Madison volleyed it in minutes before the final whistle. The end of the match confirmed a 1-1 draw as the ‘Caps moved to 3W-0L-1D in preseason. The 'Caps open their 2016 USL season on Saturday, March 26 on the road against Orange County Blues FC.
