Woodbridge Strikers kept their title aspirations alive after a 4-0 result over visitors
Master's FA Saints on Sunday following goals from Luca Baldassarre (38', 42'),
Michael Bilak (45') and Tyrese Edwards (72').

Woodbridge keepers split the time, with Matt George playing 83 minutes and
Nicholas Maffeo taking the final seven minutes of the clean sheet.

"To begin it was back and forth," said Woodbridge head coach, Peter Pinizzotto.
"They had a couple chances and we had some too, but I think in the end
we deserved the points."

"It was great to see the guys scoring some goals. It was good also to see that
we had four U17 players in the team, and it's encouraging to see some young
players that are capable of coming in and playing at this level. We have a lot
of injuries and suspensions so this was a chance for the young kids to come
in and play."

Masters technical director Junior Groves has continually been frustrated
at his team's inability to make quality play add up to goals for the Saints,
and this match was no different.

"I'm kind of tired of saying the same thing," said Groves. "You can see our
quality on the field, and if you walked up to the field you would think we are
leading the game because of how we are playing."

"The length of possession, the movement of the ball, the opportunities - we were
all over Woodbridge and that should have been our game. We make one mistake,
and then goal, and then two and three goals. That's been a problem for us,
and although we are getting better, we must pull this together because we want
to be a championship team going into next year."

Groves referenced a banner year for Masters, in which 16 players went away
on scholarship, and numerous youth prospects stepped in to play minutes for
the academy side, but expressed regret at the poor record of 2 wins
- 16 losses - 1 draw.

"It's not good enough for us just to sit with what we have right now, we all
know that," he said.

"All of the players are frustrated, they know they had opportunities to win
the game, and they gave it away. Hopefully we fix this by next game and give
a better showing on the goalscoring side."

Woodbridge is eight points back of Vaughan Azzurri with three matches left
to play. The Strikers will need to keep up their winning ways, and hope Vaughan
cannot claim the single point needed for the Azzurri to clinch the west
division title in their remaining two matches, if they are to come from
behind and take the east division title.
