North Miss Rings Up Six On Young Windsor Stars Side 09/18/2016, 3:00pm EDT By Lauren Maharaj In a match riddled with goals from either side, North Mississauga once again showcased their scoring prowess from all areas of the pitch against Windsor Stars at Hershey Field in a whopping 6-2 victory. Rick Titus' side converted early and relentlessly in the first-half, scoring three of their six goals via Kevin Dhillon (4'), Jordan Montoya in a Robin van Persie-esque diving header (28') and Nordo Gooden (42'). Farrell Francis (35') reciprocated the Panthers early lead with a long shot conversion while on a run down the middle with two men on his back. In the second half, the goal scoring continued at a rapid rate with Titus' side taking advantage of unmarked space, especially in the cases of substitute David Buckley (75') and David Alva (53'). The final wound and the sixth goal from the home side was a lovely shot off the flank by Antoine Paul (86') that dipped into the top corner. Although the final score line tells a story of goal scoring dominance from the Panthers, a battle for possession was the true theme of the match. A young Stars side fought against their higher table opponents with great will despite falling short early on. Head coach Paul Martin expressed ample respect for his opponent's performance despite the final result, but also applauded his own roster for their continued efforts throughout the 90 minutes. "We got to the second half and we started finding more chances and totally settled, he said. "The important thing is that the younger side worked through and fought through and come back." "Something that I indicated to the team before the game regardless of the score was to play in it for 90 minutes and fight to the end regardless of the [outcome]." Panthers head coach Rick Titus was gracious of the well-deserved victory and even more so gracious of his team's continued hard work even as the season dwindles. "Its unfortunate that the guys can't win the division, but the guys continue to come to games and come to practice. We had three practices this week and everyone has been showing up," said Titus "I still have a dedicated bunch of players who are willing to move forward with the games. And they all still show up to play. I'm happy about that." North Mississauga now sit comfortably in third place with 35 points in the western division behind league leaders FC London and Sigma FC who hold 41 points each.
