A strong second half performance propelled Toronto Skillz FC to an impressive
4-2 victory over Aurora United FC, in what was Skillzā€™s final home game
of the club's debut League1 Ontario campaign.

Proceedings were evenly balanced as the first half ended in a 1-1 draw,
via goals from Simon Adjei (15') and Mitchell Wong (40').

However, despite Adjei (58') eventually scoring a double, the hosts dominated
the visitors in the second half with two clinical goals from
Roen Fordyce-Hylwyka (59'), Sameer Fathazada (71') and a Michael Jahsan
penalty (53') to secure the victory.

"We decided to give a majority of our academy players a run, many of whom
were on our recent club trips to France and Germany. They were brilliant,"
said Toronto Skiilz FC coach Leslie Fitzpatrick.

"A lot of them were born in the 1999-2002 age bracket, and understand
the playing style we have been trying to promote as a club," he continued.

"They have vindicated our faith in them every time they stepped on the field."

"It was great that, for our final home game, we were able to give the fans
who always come out to Birchmount - even during some of our difficult
earlier season games - an incentive to return next season."

"Plus, the other younger academy players could see their peers performing
so well," he added.

Aurora United coach Jimmy Brennan was understandably disappointed by the
result, but backed his team to learn from the mistakes and improve.

"Although I think all the goals that were conceded were avoidable, one must
give Toronto Skillz credit for being good enough to convert the chances."

"Up until the game was tied 2-2 at the hour mark, I thought we were doing
quite well, so from that perspective if we can replicate what we did
up until the final 30 minutes of the second half, I saw enough today
to suggest they guys will be better for this experience."
