Fayehun Finish Edges Pro Stars Ahead Of Windsor In 3-2 Final

Pro Stars grabbed their third win of the season in matchweek 20, taking down 
visitors' Windsor Stars 3-2.

"The strategy was to get men behind the ball from the beginning of the match, 
press high and win the ball back as high as you can," said Pro Stars head coach, 
Stivon Mikhail. "If we lost the ball, it was about getting men behind the ball 
and that was pretty much our strategy. Press them high and work them down." 

"We knew that Windsor would probably come here with a young team, because 
it is that time of year, and it worked out to our advantage." 

Mann Slewa (17') put the home side up early, before Windsor's Celso Carapau (43') 
levelled the scoreline heading into the half-time break. 

The Pro Stars then took over the early part of the second half, with 
Lucas Doros (61') and Michael Fayehun (72') giving the hosts a two goal lead. 

Windsor's Nathan Cemmings (87') brought the away side within reach of getting 
a late point, but Pro Stars hung on for the result. 

"We lost the game, but the goals that we scored were just fantastic goals, 
with nice touches on the ball and nice combinations of play," said Windsor 
technical director, Vancho Cirovski. "We missed two breakaways in the last 
five minutes, so this could have been a different outcome. I'm happy with 
how we finished."

Pro Stars have had a tumultuous season, with changeover through the squad 
and technical staff, but Mikhail said he felt the team had reached 
an important plateau.

"We sat down a while ago and decided we do have a great squad, and 
a great staff, and we need to start building consistency," he said. "I think 
since we all got on the same page, we are seeing results like this 
here today, and they are going to come more often. It's all about being 
consistent, and we're working on that."

Windsor also has one eye on the future, and Cirovski was impressed by the 
performances of a team filled with youth prospects.

"The strategy now is really to get some of our players exposure to the 
league, some of our younger players that are in our junior programs," 
he confirmed.

"That happened today because we only had two regular starters, the rest 
were all seventeen year olds, which kind of showed early on because 
of the jitters." 

"But I think as the match went on they picked up really quickly that the 
ball has to move a lot faster and their skill began to show. I think what 
I loved the most was the never give up attitude."

"We have two games left, and we'll be stronger at home likely, but this 
is not about winning the league at this point. This is about exposure 
for these kids to see what it's like at the next level."
