Fenton Hat-Trick Extends North Miss' Run Of Form After 5-2 Result Over Oakville 08/22/2016, 1:30pm EDT By League1 Ontario staff Bradley Fenton (3', 28', 53') led the way for North Miss Panthers as they took down Oakville Blue Devils 5-2 in matchweek 18 play. Johnson Amoo (39') and Austin Bryan (79') added singles for the Panthers, while Oakville's Parv Nagra (65') and Macca Wilde (35') strikes gave some consolation to the visitors. "At the start of the season we had our struggles as obviously it was a brand new team," said North Miss team official, Chris Hogg. "We had a mix of players that had played in the league before, and some young kids as well, so it took some time for them to mesh together." "Once they got that down pat, their commitment to training was amazing," he added. "At any given practice we have so many of them showing up, and that has made a difference on the field. These boys have really done an awesome job. Today our back four was particularly good." Oakville head coach Duncan Wilde was disappointed that his team didn't follow the gameplan, and ultimately manufactured their own demise. "We've been devastated with injuries really, a player suspended, and a couple of last minute call-ups today to try and shore things up," he said. "Our gameplan was to try and play around the North Mississauga team and my team didn't want to do that." "We were always playing through the middle, getting dispossessed and countered," he added. "North Mississauga's finishing was excellent, their work-rate was tremendous, and they completely dominated the midfield. We did not get amongst them at all." Oakville and North Miss had battled to a draw in their first meeting, and memories of that contest were fresh in the minds of North Miss technical staff. "We struggled against this team, although we did well in the first game they came back in the 89th minute and tied it up, so we knew they were going to come on strong this game thinking that we were a team they could beat," said Hogg. "And they could have probably beaten us if they had got some of the early goals after they had penetrated." With the win, North Miss extend their impressive mid/ late season form to eight matches unbeaten in 11 outings. "I'm very very happy with the boys and how they've played," said Hogg. "It is our intention to finish the season strong and they are on the right path. As you saw, the product on the field today was dominant." "All credit to Oakville though, they kept coming at us and we had to keep fighting right to the end. It's a good result for us overall, and we're very happy with the way things have turned out." The 2015 League1 Ontario and Inter-Provincial champions, Oakville Blue Devils have had a difficult season and Wilde indicated that the focus was turning to the future. "At 4-2 down today we were sure we got a penalty, but it wasn't given and that caused the players to get down a bit," he said. "At 4-3 we would have been back into it and we've shown over the last few weeks that we have some fighting spirit." "However, from then on it was damage limitation, and we gave League1 debuts to six new players today," he said. "That's not something we want to be doing at this time of year, we'd rather be challenging for championships, but this year for a variety of reasons things have not gone our way." "All credit to the young team at North Mississauga, they showed great energy and scored some nice goals. I'm sure they'll have a good run-in to the end of the season."
