Melo Double Guides North Miss To 5-1 Away Result In Kingston 08/15/2016, 4:00pm EDT By League1 Ontario staff North Mississauga Panthers went to Kingston on Sunday and handed the Clippers a resounding 5-1 defeat - the first home defeat for the Clippers in 2016. "The boys played very well today," said North Miss head coach, Rick Titus. "The ball movement and running off of the ball was high-level stuff today. They were playing off of Joey [Melo] and Jose [DeSousa] really well and combining through the middle and on the wings. It was really high level." Jonathan Amoo (14') got the away side bubbling with a finish inside the first twenty minutes, before Jose Melo (36', 90') added a brace and Bradley Fenton (44') and Jose De Sousa (45') added singles. Kingston had the sole consolation goal, struck by Taylor Nelson (82') close to full-time. "Well, someone had to beat us at home at some point," said Kingston technical director, Chris Eveleigh. "I think the lads were a little bit complacent because we haven't lost as much as we have in the past by this time of year. Perhaps we were expecting to do a little bit better." "However I have to pay tribute to one player that has been tremendous for us in this league, never gives up working hard, and it's Andrew Martin. He's working everywhere on the pitch all the way to final whistle, and bringing quality." With his brace on the day, Melo brought himself up to sixth in the Golden Boot race with ten goals in fifteen matches. "It's always nice to score, but I think the game was a little comfortable since we got the goals we needed in the first half," he said. "Second half we took our time a little bit more since we had a nice lead. Scoring is kind of my job here but overall I thought we were comfortable and everyone had a good game."
