Moncrieffe Brace Guides Durham Past Pro Stars 08/13/2016, 5:15pm EDT By League1 Ontario staff Durham United FA took down Pro Stars FC 4-2 on Friday night after goals from Joseph Roccasalva (9'), Christian Moncrieffe (29', 49') and Mark Tarazhi (90'). "I think the biggest thing today was that we didn't let off in the second half," said Durham head coach, Sanford Carabin. "Our motto all year is to work harder than the other team and I think tonight we did. I think that pushed us through." Pro Stars Briam Lopez (7') and Mann Slewa (64') finished for Pro Stars, but the young side from Brampton couldn't make up the difference. "I thought in the first half we did very very well," said Pro Stars assistant coach, Stiven Mikhail. "I thought the penalty shots were a little unfortunate. I think the game at best should have been tie. I thought we played really well and it was just unfortunate mistakes that cost us." Durham featured several new players, and struggled initially to find fluency against a pacey and well-organized Pro Stars team. "We had to change a few things at the end," said Carabin. "We had four players on the field tonight that haven't played much for us, two brand new players. They took a while to understand how we wanted to play but they trained with us all week and they did their job." "Credit to Pro Stars, they're a young team - they don't stop. I told the guys that at half-fime too, 2-1 up is a dodgy game and can go either way." "The last game we had we were missing our defensive players and so we were missing our press," said Mikhail. "We tried that this game and slowly we are getting better and better at it." Now four points off the top of the east division leaders Vaughan Azzurri, and with Woodbridge Strikers in between in second place, Durham face a stern end of season test to their aspirations of the east division title. "It's going to be hard," said Carabin. "We've got to get back on the roll, this spell recently was the first time that we lost two in a row and we've got to get back to winning ways." "This was a good start and hopefully we carry that through to next week."
