Toronto FC Academy Keeps Up Form With 4-0 Win Over Aurora 07/03/2016, 6:45pm EDT By League1 Ontario staff Joshua Moreira (78', 90+3') scored a brace, while teammates Mirza Custovic (84') and Armando Caracciolo (55') added a single each, for Toronto FC Academy as they beat Aurora United FC 4-0. TFCA keeper Brogan Engbers kept the clean sheet. "In the end I think we deserved the points," said Toronto FC Academy head coach, Stuart Neely. "The goals we scored were good goals, we worked them well." "We started off very slow, while we dominated a good chunk of the first half we just weren't lethal in front of goal. And Aurora were to their credit used their tall striker very well. He's quite the target and they had a couple opportunities mid-way through the first half on counters. Right on the stroke of half-time they had a strike that hit the crossbar. So we had to regroup at halftime, refocus, reenergize ourselves, and readdress our gameplan, and I think we did that in the second half with four unanswered goals." Neely was happy with the result, particularly in the context of his team's style and record thus far in the 2016 season. "I think it was a convincing win, not only on the scoresheet but in the context of a possession-based game," he said. "Defensively I thought we did our job although at times we tried to overplay too much." Aurora assistant coach Dave Di Placido thought his side started the match well, but lost focus and shape as the contest drew out. "I thought the first half we were well organized and didn't give them many chances," he said. "Obviously they're a good side, they have a lot of skill in the team, so we thought we'd close down play and make it difficult on them." "We did that first half, but second half we gave them much too much room to maneuver and with their skillful players they created chances and that was the game." With the win, Toronto FC Academy remains in sixth place in the west division, but only a marginal one points separates the team from North Mississauga. Toronto FC Academy's next match is home at Kia Training Grounds, Downsview against Master's FA Saints on July 10 (1 p.m.). Aurora United FC also occupies sixth position, but in the east division. Aurora plays Pro Stars FC next on July 9 (7 p.m.) at Terry Fox Stadium, Brampton.
