Windsor Stars captured a third win in four matches, and a third clean sheet
to boot, after beating Aurora United FC 3-0 on Friday night.

Mike Pio (3', 8') kept up his goalscoring form of late, getting a brace inside
the first ten minutes before Celso Carapau (11') added a third just
a minute later.

Goalkeepers Kyle Vizarakis and Michelle Catani played a half each for
Windsor, managing to claim the clean sheet between them.

Aurora United fought their way back into the match after a flat start,
making the remainder of the match a more even affair than the
scoreline suggested.

"I'm not going to make excuses," said Aurora head coach, Jimmy Brennan.
"We had a slow start today and they scored three goals in ten minutes
before we ever got going."

"The last twenty minutes in the first half we got our legs and got
forward and it was much better. We had a few chances we should have
put away. I thought we were in control in the second half, we had
a lot of chances going forward, and we just couldn't put
it in the net. I was pleased with much of the match but wish we could
have taken back the first fifteen minutes."

After a perfect start to the match, featuring smooth interchange
of position and nice combination play between players, Windsor
appeared to take their foot off the gas.

"I would say it was night and day between the first twenty minutes
and the rest of the game," said Windsor head coach, Dave Rimbert.
"I thought the first twenty minutes we played very well - we just
were knocking the ball around, unselfish, and moving off the ball."

"But then you score three goals and they come quick. I think
it's normal for the focus to go down. We've discussed that and
we'll look to improve it. In another situation, we could have
been in trouble. Defending a 3-0 lead for sixty or seventy minutes
is not easy."

"It boggles your mind as a coach sometimes, why players change
their style of play when it is working on the pitch,"
added Rimbert. "But that's down to the level of professionalism.
You take the German national team, for example, they just keep
doing the same thing over and over again until it succeeds.
Our second half was not pretty at all."

Windsor plays Oakville Blue Devils on July 3 (3 p.m.)
at Sheridan College Stadium, Oakville. Although Windsor
is currently in third place in the west division, with a game
in hand on Oakville and two points ahead of the Devils,
Oakville has yet to play in matchweek nine and could overhaul
Windsor with a victory.

"We'll be fine, the commitment from the players is very good,"
said Rimbert. "I think we're getting more chances and the play
has improved. Most importantly, we're getting stronger
at the back. Our goals against has been quite good of late.
I think we'll be fine on the road."

Aurora United is currently sixth place in the east division
and plays Toronto FC Academy on July 2 (7 p.m.)
at Sheppard's Bush, Aurora.
