Muccilli And Issac Get The Goals, George Keeps The Clean Sheet For Strikers Over Stars 06/20/2016, 4:00pm EDT By League1 Ontario staff Woodbridge Strikers men grabbed their second win of the weekend after taking down Windsor Stars 2-0 at Vaughan Grove, Woodbridge on Sunday. Ignazio Muccilli (16') and Emmanuel Issac (68') got their seconds of the week after first goals of the season on Friday night against FC London. Matt George claimed the clean sheet. "Overall, after playing Friday and Windsor playing Friday too, we played a hard game in London and came back today and actually did very well," said Woodbridge head coach, Peter Pinizzotto. "The score looks good against Windsor because if it wasn't for their goalie, it could've been pretty ugly. Could've been five or six today, but I am happy because we didn't give up any goals again and we created a lot of chances to put the game away in the first half." Windsor also played earlier in the matchweek, and despite beating Toronto Skillz 5-0 in that match there appeared to be a physical and mental hangover from the exertion. "We worked hard and it's not that they beat us, I think we just beat ourselves and that is something that we can work on," said Windsor technical director, Vancho Cirovski. "Other than that we worked hard, but we didn't get the result we wanted. We had a game on Friday and a lot of players had to play 90 minutes and come here and play and it's hard on both teams. Definitely the heat was a factor." Woodbridge cemented their position at the top of the east division with this result, getting twenty-two points from nine matches. Woodbridge is two points ahead of Vaughan Azzurri in second spot, but have played one more match. "We have to win every game if we want to finish on top," said Pinizzotto. "You got to win every game that comes across. Our focus is to go to every game and try to get the three points." Woodbridge travels to Toronto FC Academy's Kia Training Grounds on June 26 (3 p.m.) while Windsor goes home to University of Windsor on June 24 (7 p.m.) to play Aurora United FC. Windsor currently occupies third position in the west division, but having played one more match and holding a slim two point lead on fourth place Oakville Blue Devils there is very little wiggle room at the top.
