Cordon And Voci Lead Strikers To Victory Over Kingston 05/16/2016, 4:45pm EDT By League1 Ontario staff In wet, cold and windy conditions, Woodbridge Strikers managed to finally find a way past visitors Kingston Clippers after goals from Oscar Cordon (50') and Daniel Voci (87') secured the goals, and keeper Matt George kept a clean sheet, en route to a 2-0 victory. A first half was gamely contested by both sides, with Kingston showing strong defensive organization and pressure to win the ball, but were unable to find a way through the ironclad Strikers defence. "Obviously we're disappointed to lose, but the work rate continues to be good from the young team we are putting out on the field," said Kingston technical director, Chris Eveleigh. Cordon linked up well with a Joshua Portillo cutback just after the restart to put home the first of the match. Daniel Voci put the game away just before the end of regular time, after a long ball from George caught the Kingston defence napping. Voci stole in behind, got to the ball before the onrushing Kingston GK Dustin Kemp, and lobbed the ball into an open net. "We're happy with the win," said Woodbridge head coach, Peter Pinizzotto. "I thought the first half we were struggling playing against the wind. I think in the second half we played a lot better and I thought the result was fair. "This was our first game at home and it is very important that we get our wins at home. What's very important also is that the other team didn't score. It's always been one of our strengths, defensively we always seem to play very well and very disciplined. I'm happy with that."
