Sat May 7, 2016 League 1 Ontario--Master's Futbol Saints vs Woodbridge Strikers (from League 1 Ontario website)
Strikers Put Five Past Masters To Get Second Win In Row 05/08/2016, 2:15pm EDT By League1 Ontario staff Woodbridge Strikers jumped out to an early lead away to Masters, getting first half strikes from Wellington (19'), Almeida (41') and Portillo (45 + 2') to give the visitors some comfort at the interval. Shortly after the restart, Gabriel Sosa (48') added his second of the season, again a spot kick but this time from the penalty spot. Weather conditions played a role late in the match, as wind and rain began to cause unpredictable ball movement and lessened traction for the players. Masters keeper had to be alert, making several key stops as the game wound down. "We told the boys to make sure not to give the momentum away in the second half, and I thought they played much better than last week," said Woodbridge head coach Peter Pinizzotto. "It was a good win." Strikers' Chiarot (68') put in the final tally off his head with under twenty minutes remaining, and his GK David Ragno claimed a clean sheet at the full-time whistle with a 5-0 result for Woodbridge. "We just got our players together and have some coming back," said Masters technical director, Junior Groves. "It's very important for us to play a team like Woodbridge at this point, as we know what we have to do to improve and we will move forward," he added. "I thought Woodbridge did a wonderful job today, and we put ourselves behind the eight ball early and had a difficult time coming back into it. We're now looking forward to the next game."
