46 min...WS Almeida cross from 15 yards on left has WS player shoot 12 yarder from left into outside webbing of net fooling the fans in the stands who thought they'd scored.
49 min...VA Whiteman taps pass to VA Jashau Mills for run into box where he's checked off ball and WS wins freekick when he lunges at them.
51 min...WS Scott gets loose ball and quick blast up middle from 30 yards is well over net.

53 min...WS Carreiro 40 yard freekick down middle has defender pop up at 7 yards in crowd of players and WS player heads forward and goalie catches with another WS player called offside at 2 yards and goalie is plowed into.

91 min...VA Brandon Mills long 3 on 1 break on right and he kicks 18 yarder over net.
91 min...WS RED card...Oscar Cordon earns his second Yellow card within five minutes for pushing referee Hassane Rifai. Cordon first pushed VA Joseph Di Chiara away from ball after whistle with Di Chiara holding ball stalling for time preventing a WS freekick from 60 yards. Cordon then pushes Rifai in chest.
95 min...WS Muccilli chips 60 yard freekick and wins a cornerkick.
96 min...WS Muccilli cornerkick from right has WS Issac head ball from 20 yards on left side of box and his high and wide left from 6 yards.
96 min...game ends 9:03pm.

Attendance was about 350 on this mild and sunny evening with no water breaks needed unlike the hot afternoon Women's Cup Final game which had a slightly larger crowd.

VA Kamal Miller was awarded the MVP of the game for scoring the only goal of the game.

Referee Hassane Rifai gave out nine Yellow cards (including two to Cordon) and five to Vaughan players in a game that had some hard checking.

A transformer blew out at the 79 minute mark taking down the scoreboard for a few seconds but the overhead lights for much longer just as it was starting to become twilight. After a minute play resumed but I'm sure the L1O execs were holding their breath mumbling "please no overtime, please no overtime". The lights did come back just before 90 minutes.

Best non-scoring chances were at 33 minutes when VA Jarred Philipps rushes to right end line and his low cross had the goalie dive and catch. 44 minutes had VA Kyle Crichton steal the ball from WS Christian Cavallini at the WS 45 yard line and after a short run up the right he passes forward to VA Jarek Whiteman who shot low from the right and just wide left of the post from 7 yards. That same minute Whiteman then took a low 15 yard shot from the right that the goalie batted away. Still in that minute VA Philipps ran up the right and rushed a shot wide right from 8 yards when the goalie stepped forward to challenge him. 53 minutes had WS Dylan Carreiro take a 40 yard freekick down the middle that a defender popped up at 7 yards in a crowd of players and a WS player headed the ball forward and the goalie caught with another WS player called offside at 2 yards and the goalie got plowed into. 61 minutes had WS Ignazio Muccilli send a 25 yard freekick from the right that had WS Cameron Brooks on the right at 8 yards head the ball forward to the left corner of the net and the flying goalie pushed wide left of the post. 87 minutes had VA Philipps make a long run up the middle and his low 30 yard shot had the goalie dive and push the ball wide right. The same minute VA Daniel Cramarossa's 8 yard shot had the sprawling goalie deflect the ball out the left side of the box. 89 minutes had Gabriel Sosa take a 55 yard chip that the charging WS Emmanuel Issac headed from 15 yards that the goalie caught under the bar. 96 minutes and WS Muccilli cornerkick from the right had WS Issac head the ball from 12 yards on the left side of box and WS Brooks on the even with the right post headed the ball high and wide left from 6 yards.

The League Cup was a four round tournament played weeknights between the last week of May and today. Big surprise that in the first round the eight Eastern Conference teams eliminated the eight Western teams. Tonight's competitors were the first and second place Eastern teams in league play.

The three Mills brothers (Brandon, Jason, and Jahsua) were back together playing for Vaughan. Jahsua was away playing for K-W United in Kitchener on their PDL team for their season and their one playoff game. He started the first two matches in April and May with Vaughan. Substitute Tre Crosby played one game with Vaughan in May then he was away with K-W United. Also starting goalie Dayne St Clair and Kamal Miller played for K-W United and their playoff game. They both played for Vaughan in 2014 and 2015. The PDL playoffs continued this weekend and Vaughan wouldn't have been so deep if K-W United had still been involved with these four players.

Carmine Isacco was the winning head coach a matter of hours after coaching the Vaughan Women's team to their Cup win. This usually happens only at the youth level where a coach could string U-8, U9, U10 wins at the Robbie tournament. Good thing he didn't go completely hoarse after yelling instructions and criticizing calls in the women's game but he was fairly quiet in this game.
