Encore Question of May 9, 1998.
Played at The Keg-Sheppard Centre in North York.

  1. Danger Zone
  2. I'm Alright
  3. Footloose
  4. Nobody's Fool
  5. Whenever I Call U Friend (sic)

Tonight I have only 12380 points as I arrived at the Frog & Firkin just before 10pm, got a beer and then found that due to technical difficulties, there was no NTN tonight. I wasn't going to run across the street right away so relaxed and talked to some of the ex-Joe Grinders regulars until I finished. I went over to The Keg in time to get in on the last two questions of the OnBeat round. The regular F&F players were over there. I did win the Triviaoke round but was in 8th place far behind FLAVOR who had 17867. This question had to be something about Kenny Loggins not singing something but he did sing all these songs right? With 50% of my points on the line...

Question:...Which of these Kenny Loggins hits is *not* from a movie soundtrack?

Ok, I better try to peel this answer off. Danger Zone was in Top Gun, Footloose was the actual name of a movie. Couldn't think of what movie I'm Alright was from. As time ticks away I think of it another way, I don't remember "Whenever I Call You 'Friend'" having even a video clip for it as I'd certainly remember Stevie Nicks in their duet. Ok 5 it is. The F&F regulars talk loud enough for me to overhear they'll be going for 5 as well.

Correct Answer: 5. Whenever I Call U Friend.

Note: 'I'm Alright' was from the movie Caddyshack and 'Nobody's Fool' was from Caddyshack II says Joel Whitburn's book Top Pop Singles.

I don't move up with this answer as only one person of the 11 players is wrong. I finish 8th with 18570 points and earn either 1000 or 2000 Players Plus points (noone could remember what the standard was for this game). I finish 699th in North America. The bar finishes 17th in North America with a 25489 average (listed as Willow Keg) and seven of our players were between 100 and 200th top players on the individual rankings with FLAVOR with 26801 being the best of them.

Other games:
I pull up a chair and play with the F&F regulars as about three of them leave.

1:00am...Countdown...9667/15000...2nd/9...131st in NA (very tough game!)...bar is 356th in NA...1000+ points...PHREDD wins.

By then there were only four F&F regulars. The boards were causing problems with frequency hoppers especially for MOLSON and KELLY. It's not much fun putting in an answer and having to watch it, watch it, watch it to make sure noone changes your answer. I got one of the old bubble-key boards so it was easy to press in and change answers without getting arthritis.
