Encore Question of March 28, 1998.
Played at The Keg-Sheppard Centre in North York.

  1. California Here I Come
  2. Chim Chim Cheree
  3. Let It Snow
  4. Tears On My Pillow
  5. Waltzing Matilda

Tonight I have a big lead on EGO who has 17377 while I have 21837. It has been a close game with me winning each round except tieing OnBeat with him. I did a very good 7 right, 2 wrong in that round, the best I'd ever played. I only pulled away in Triviaoke. There are five players in this game. With 50% of my points on the line (going for the bar's Hall Of Fame again):

Question:...Which popular song dates from the 1920's?

Well I don't know this one so I have to think about it. Chim Chim Cheree was from the 1960's Disney movie Mary Poppins so that's out but I can't say that for any others. Waltzing Matilda would be popular in Australia but in North America? Nah. Think movies? Let It Snow from the 30's or 40's? Tears On My Pillow from the 50's? California Here I Come was song on I Love Lucy in an episode in the 50's but it would be a good song for the Okies migrating west in the 1930's but could have been out much sooner than that. I thought of the moviemakers moving westward and making that popular. Was there a Golden Gate bridge in the 1920's? Oh well I pressed '1' right at the start so I hadn't thought of anything better.

Correct Answer:...1. California Here I Come

I win and finish with 32755 points. That's good for Number 1 on the bar's Hall Of Fame board displacing one of my own scores from the top. I now have 1,2,3,5,6 and 8. My score earns me 2000 Players Plus Points and I finish 57th in North America (about 500 points short of the Network Top 20 board). The bar is 1132nd in North America. Only one other player was right on that question and it was EDS who rose to 24033.

Tonight was quite a difference from last week's snowstorm as it was windbreaker weather. I stayed until the 12:00am game was over without crossing the street as I known EDS (Ed) for many years but never knew he liked playing NTN. We didn't team up and he likes to play against his friend EGO. It's the opposite of the 'shared brain gang' at Frog & Firkin.

The Fox & Firkin was the Top Bar in North America in the 12:00am Countdown game so I went across the street to say 'Hello'. About seven of them were playing as a team (yes they can win without DAVETV I had to acknowledge).
