Tonight I have the lead with an unspectacular 15139 points. I won the Jukebox and Triviaoke round and was co-winner of the Tune-Up round. The OnBeat round was awful as I earned 2000 getting three right, four wrong and stayed out of two. I've got a slight lead on OLDUDE with 12524. He was right beside me at the bar so no surprises were expected. I wanted that 50% risk to try to pass 22000 points and into the Hall of Fame Top Ten so I'd control the top eight places. More interesting waiting for the Encore round was a young guy asking about the game and dragging my playmaker over to his spot by the antenna. Just when I was going to grab it back when he looked like he was going to press some buttons, the manager from behind the bar came over and chewed him out. Then I noticed he was inebriated and was threatened with ejection. It was a different feeling than worrying about the last question. So with 7570 points on the line...

Question:...He had a #1 hit in 1991 with the plea "Don't Rock The Jukebox".

Well this was a very easy one for me. I bought his Greatest Hits cassette last Boxing Day but I knew this song long before then. I answered and then made sure OLDUDE and MADDOG also had the right answer when they weren't sure.

Correct Answer: 2 Alan Jackson

I win with 22709 points and that gets me 8th spot on the bar's Top 10 Hall of Fame. Yes I now have the top eight places on the board. I earn 2000 Players Plus points. I was surprized that I finished 158th in North America. (Maybe those OnBeat questions were tough). The bar was 10XX something as only about four of the eleven players were right.

The band tonight was 'The High Rollers', a trio of guitarist, bassist, and drummer who played pop covers. They are probably the band I've seen the most often at this bar. I stayed their three sets and they've dropped 'The Man Who Sold The World' from their playlist...too bad.

Because of the rain and an incident last night at the Frog & Firkin I stayed at Joe Grinders the whole evening. I played up at the bar with Brian OLDUDE and Bill MADDOG just before Playback started so there was a lot of answer sharing this evening. It had been Brian's 58th birthday a few days earlier. Bill is 48 and I am 38 so that seemed strange. Brian hates the high percentage of entertainment questions in the general games. With crossover questions like 'which historical event was turned into a movie starring...', it was nearly 50%!

The night before I popped into the Frog & Firkin as I heard DAVETV would be there for a Halloween party. When I didn't see him or his gang I just left to get back with my own friends. I was watching the Network board tonight to see if I could see him or his friends somewhere but didn't. The weather, the regulars and the band got me to stay at Joe Grinders tonight. I don't know who ELMO or PHREDD were tonight at F+F.

One more DAVETV story! Well OLDUDE has played him. Brian's beaten him in their five meetings at Joe Grinders but can never beat him when they've crossed paths at other bars. Even his feelings seem to be mixed as he says what a nice guy he is but earlier said he felt Davetv was ready to throw a Playmaker at the mirror when he lost. The 'five boards for me' playing gained more credibility too.

I'd also seen Carla (from my Carla and Faleena sub page) for the first time in almost two years while windowshopping so I felt like I had a fun evening.
