Encore Question of October 25, 1997.

Answers:

  1. 24 Hours From Tulsa
  2. Seventh Son
  3. Three Times A Lady
  4. Route 66
  5. Eight Days A Week

Tonight I have a big lead thanks to winning the OnBeat and JukeBox round and cowinning the TuneUp Round. I have 20194 and visiting player BIRD has 15861 so risking 20% would give me the win if I was right. There wasn't really any of us ten players (the game started with only five) close except for us two. And can't see a pattern to these songs so do go conservative.

Question: This song was a Top 10 hit in 1965 for Johnny Rivers:

Well I'm not sure of this offhand. I know 'Three Times A Lady' was out by a decade as the Commodores recorded that in the 1970s. 'Eight Days A Week' was a Beatles song but at least it was 1965. The other three look credible but I thought '24 Hours' was someone else and earlier in the 1960s. (Hours later I thought of Gene Pitney). I think I've read more about Seventh Son rather than heard it. I check with Bill MADDOG and he thinks it's Seventh Son too. It does seem a good choice but I still can't imagine more than two words. Ok '2' it is and I don't change.

Correct Answer: 2. Seventh Son

I'm right and win with 24233 points. I needed that too as BIRD did the expected and risked 50% and was right for 23792. Actually four of the ten players were right. I finish 981st in North America and the bar is 1529th. I earn 2000 Players Plus points. I finish 6th on the bar's Hall of Fame and now have the top 7 positions.

The band tonight is 'Medicine Man' who are a trio of vocals/guitar, vocals/bass, and drums. The band plays pop songs and mixes in some originals with their Rolling Stones covers among others. The bassist was wearing a Cleveland Indians baseball cap and tonight was the sixth game of the World Series but I've seen him wear it the other times they've performed in the last year so he's not a bandwagon jumper.

Bill has finally become a Network player and has earned 30000 Players Plus points in about two weeks. I'd say it wouldn't take too long to pass me as I only come out once a week if that. Tonight I pass something like 380000.

I left for the Frog & Firkin in hopes of seeing DAVETV but I'd missed him by one night said regulars KELLY and MOLSON. More legend stories about him helping the bar finish first in North America or him helping some friends get perfect games or letting them finish first. Speculation about where he was tonight.

Out sort of late but the clocks turn back tonight so that gives me an extra hour of sleep.
