Tonight phoned Rob who said the friends were going out to a karaoke bar with other friends. Rob and Phil don't sing. I figured I'd be playing on my own so was going to walk to my closest NTN bar about 30 minutes away. Then Rob called back and said they'd meet up at The Unicorn and play until the other friends arrived. Now I had to rush to catch a subway and bus although it was only 5 stops instead of the 26 when I play at the Squire. I'm there for most of the 7:30pm game and order five boards. Sign on as my two regular names and another one because Rob never had a P+ for his second board. 8:00pm and they're still not here! They were coming by bicycle. 8:02pm and the prelim is just reading through the 'how to play' and they come in just in time to sign on and get the first question. Ok so let's play.

I felt ripped off with all the movie questions I perceived to be in this round. It would be like being told the Headliner was about Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra and then getting half movie questions--and not even musical questions. My latest Billboard singles book that runs up to 2010 shows he's charted 28 singles and been featured on 18 others. He's sang on 3 #1s and 11 Top 10s. 12 albums on this own too. Couldn't they find enough music questions to ask? Alright let's see what I answered: Q1 Now I see why they didn't show which artist they chose as the Headliner--their first question was the same teaser they used to promote tonight's game of Usher, 50 Cent or Snoop Dogg (Lion). Q2 and Q3 easy both from first album. Q4. Never heard of the movie. I went with 'bloodhound' as the only 'dog' answer thinking of the irony/ typecasting although for irony they had the choice of 'snail'. I don't think my friends chose this in time when they asked me. Q5 didn't get this one. I went with Green Arrow I think rather than Spiderman of my friends. Q6 another movie question but I guessed right because we could pitch out most of the other answers as charactors from other movies--Hulk, James Bond, Jack Sparrow. Q7 Wow. I thought of this earlier in the week when someone on the Skatarings message board said they always sneak in Katy Perry songs but this waa obvious. It was also the only Katy Perry song listed as a choice. Q8 another movie question! This one I felt bad about because I remember a television commercial and I thought Snoop was wearing a pilot's hat--that's comedy as he'd probably be stoned yet a position of responsibility. Phil had suggested 'baggage handler' earlier and I stayed with that. Q9 I knew he'd worked with Willie Nelson and it made sense with the list of Country stars they offered. I'm sure there was a lot of pot smoked in those sessions. Q10 finish with another movie question. Actually this one I've seen when it came out to the multiplex years ago. I had a free voucher for buying something and was mailed this coupon. When I went to the cinema they wouldn't let me exchange it as they said I could only see a movie that had been out at least three weeks. I was ready to come home but realized how far I'd driven and went back in and bought a ticket to some Ashley Judd movie that was about 20% full. I ducked into the Starsky and Hutch that was about 40% full and enjoyed the movie. Of course years later they NOW they actually print that message on these kind of coupons. I was surprised that when I recounted the story in the weeks that followed everyone I knew backed me, even my mother. Having said that, I think I would have got the answer right anyway because I used to watch the show in it's television run.
Now the Encore betting comes up. Well 50% as usual.

I don't know this. Another movie question? Can't we stick to music? I have no idea. Snooky is a charactor on Jersey Shore which might be considered as a cast of beach bums but the spelling is definitely Sookie rhyming with Cookie. Rob knows the answer and let's us know. Wow I'm glad I met up with them! He said he saw a few episodes and remembered there was lots of nudity.
