NTN Encore Question of March 10th, 2012.
Played at The Squire & Firkin in Etobicoke, Ontario.

Headliner:...PUFF DADDY/P DIDDY over Usher and Jay-Z

Encore Question:...He was featured on Puff Daddy's 'Been Around The World' and 'Can't Nobody Hold Me Down':

Tonight I'm playing with my two boards with Rob COSMO/ON J, Sean METLCA and Phil PLBAAB. Also for this game we had Terry ATROPE, and his parents at the opposite end of our pushed together tables who I'll name Mr Terry DR WHO and Mrs Terry ON J (Rob gave her his second board in the JukeBox round).

Here's how my game went and my comments:
Tune Up...ROCKET...4500/5000..4th/8.
.............LITBOX...4500/5000...4th/8...METLCA, COSMO, and ON J sweep round with 5000. I go 1 for 2 in guessing.
The Line Up...ROCKET...13500/15000...1st/8.
...........LITBOX...13500/15000...1st/8.
I win the round and take the lead with 9 right and 1 wrong for a very good round.
Triviaoke...ROCKET...19510/25000...1st/10...I'm not sure who won the round but I take three -250s this week.
............LITBOX...19510/25000...1st/10.
Opening Act...ROCKET...27510/35000...1st/10.
...........LITBOX...27510/35000...1st/10.
The Pound key round. I went 8 right for 1000, 1 for +250, 1 for -250, and 0 I didn't answer.
Headliner...ROCKET...48760/56250...1st/10.
............LITBOX...48760/56250...1st/10...I go for 10 for 10 for an excellent round and mostly convince the others of my answers overriding Terry.
PUFF DADDY/P DIDDY:...1. What's the name of the hip-hop record label founded by Sean 'Diddy' Combs?--Bad Boy...2. The 1997 album was a hit for
Puff Daddy and The Family:--No Way Out (the only album of his listed as choices were other artist's 1997 albums)...3. B2K featuring P Diddy had
hit single in 2003 with:--Bump Bump Bump...4. What was the title of the second solo album by Puff Daddy released in 1999?--Forever (again looked
like the only album of his as a choice)...5. All of these were 1990s hits for Puff Daddy EXCEPT:--California Love (the 2Pac song)...6. In a hit
song Puff Daddy & The Family tell us 'It's All About The ___________':--Benjamins...7. Diddy/Dirty Money's song 'Coming Home' features this
singer on the chorus:--Skylar Grey...8. Which Police song did Puff Daddy adapt in his smash hit 'I'll Be Missing You'?--Every Breathe You Take
...9. Who did P Diddy bring on for 'I Need A Girl Part 1'?--Usher...10. Diddy won a Grammy for his collaberation with Nelly and Murphy Lee on
this song:--Shake Ya Tailfeather

I got to 'study' the Headliner round more than I am used to. Not only did I have the 26 subway stops to get to this bar, I also had about 45 minutes earlier this afternoon when I was waiting in the dealership garage for an estimate on repairs for my car that was badly leaking oil on the unexpected ride I made up there after discovering puddles under my car at the hospital where I visited my father and my own driveway. I'm glad I had made my notes before Saturday afternoon.

Actually Puff Daddy was my last guess for what they'd choose. I was at the dealership and realized that I should had look up what record labels they were on as I realized they were producers/music executives too. Ok back home in time and glad I did. That was the first Headline question. One of the alternate choices was Jay-Zs record label! I also noted all the Headliners have done a lot of collaberations even with some of them guesting on each other's hits like Q9. It was a tough squeeze but my notes had their albums grouped with singles and the years they were released. Grammy winners--Jay-Z has 14. No memorable album covers like three-legged dogs so I didn't make notes about them. Cheat peeks needed on Q7 and Q9.

Terry was at his best trying to mess up the game with wrong answers even convincing Phil to change to 'Dump Dump Dump' after I'd said the right answer. The parents got an explanation of how the Pound Key round worked but I kept seeing Mrs Terry changing her answer on the second pass even when we called out the correct answer on the first go tound. Terry and Mrs Terry didn't risk anything on the Encore round (we didn't realize that at the time) even though we were all saying '5, 5, 5'. Mr Terry walked off to the washroom before the Encore question so I took over his DR WHO board and finished the game.

Now the Encore betting comes up. Well 50% as usual. note above.

I really wanted to get this right as the last two weeks it's been my friends who've come up with the correct Encore answers. I realized this would be my high water mark as the soccer season is getting underway and I'm not going to have time to make notes every second week for these artist themed Headliner round games.

I'm not going to have time to try to eliminate them AND look through my notes so this week I decide to go the notes route despite confined space and darkness. Enough time to read the question into my microrecorder, find the answer in my notes (after first saying Notorious BIG then finding he was not a choice although he was on 'Been Around The World') Oh-oh. Okay glance again to see who else was on the song, tell the others the correct answer, and read the rest of the choices until my micro recorder.

Actually later I realized that I would have got it either way because I knew it wasn't Jay-Z, the next two I hadn't read a thing about linking them with either of the three possible Headliners, and NAS had a big feud with Jay-Z after they'd been friends for years.

Correct Answer:....5. Mase

[NTN Extra Fact:...Mase also had some solo albums before leaving the music world to become a minister.]

I'm right and win as LITBOX with 73140. I earn 3000+ points for meeting the standard of 18000. I finish 3rd on the Network Top 20 in all North America. The bar was 3rd in North America with a 69369 average...I place first on this bar's Hall of Fame board out of only two as this bar also reset last week. Some guy last week is the other entrant at 15K.
(ntn.com moved us up to 2nd place in bars out of 1087 in Playback East district).

Here's how the rest of the bar did:
Player	preEncore Final Rank ntn.com rank
LITBOX 48760 5 73140 3 9
ROCKET 48760 5 73140 3 9
METLCA 46770 5 70155 4 12
COSMO 45980 5 68970 4 13
PLBAAB 40968 5 61440 12 24
ATROPE 37670 - 37670 108 170
ON J 36730 - 36730 115 ----
DR WHO 24840 5 37260 111 ----
UWE 4720 - 4720 5121 1753
MAYLA 1180 - 1180 7232 2206

(ntn.com listed 2519 players with 2352 having a positive score). Something has changed because that's 5000 players less than usual. I hear that
only Player's Plus players' scores are shown. 1087 bars were listed on the site. I think that's why we moved up to 2nd best bar as other non-P+
scores were discarded. I better make sure Rob reregisters his ON J board or he'll never show up on the ntn site.
