________' is the 2001 album by the trio Semisonic.--Chemistry...5. In 2001 she had the biggest selling debut album by a UK female artist in history:
--Dido...6. Aerosmith's 2001 album 'Just Push Play' included this hit single:--Jaded (other choices were just one word answers, not songs)...7.

'Something's Wrong'--Violent Femmes...9. All of these songs are found on John Meyer's 2001 breakthrough 'Room For Squares' EXCEPT--Daughters...

I had brought my latest issue of Billboard magazine and meant to study '2011' between games but the January 7th, 2012 issue was a special Grammy Award voting issue and first the first time ever I noticed there were no charts in the back pages. I was therefore glad it was 2001 although between that year and 1991 I'd spent less than one hour reading a review of those years.

I got three wrong this week and that didn't help with building up bonus points. Only 7500 earned this round. I was wrong on '3', '7' and '8'. Q1. Control was expecting Janet Jackson (yeah wrong year) but I remembered the contrast in the words "clean" and "Mudd". Q2. Easy enough to tell it was their album vs other punk groups like Sum 142 etc. Green Day was not a choice. Q3. I had Matchbox Twenty alread answered but wasn't sure and Phil said Limp Bizkit. Well they were a 'rock' band and had what was [the 5th] highest ranking album on the charts for 2001. Q4. Rob thought 'Chemistry' sounded the best although I was already leaning that way. Q5. Now I had read that 2001 was the beginning of Dido's fame in that one hour cram for the weekend. Q6. The other choices from what I could remember were one word answers like 'Spoiled/Tainted/Jealous/Envious' not real Aerosmith songs. Q7. I said 'Little Earthquakes' before realizing that there was more than one Tori Amos album in the choices. Q8. Didn't know this fact. Only could rule out The Smiths so went with either Pixies over Sonic Youth and Cocteau Twins. Q9. Agreed with Phil on this that 'Daughters' was later although there were three songs I didn't know that must have been album cuts. Q10. I knew this over the other groups listed!

Now the Encore betting comes up. Well 50% as usual. Gotta remind my friends who've forgotten to press '5' before. Ron CHATZ/WETABX came over to our table later and said for the first time ever he forgot to place a wager.

Answers:

I know this even before the answers come up. Rob says it first because I'm still dictating the question into my microrecorder. I never heard the song very often but Rob can sing the tone better than I can. I'm glad I know right off because there's some trick in the wording of the question if you'd never heard of Alien Ant Farm. (*see below the answer for explanation)

Correct Answer:....1. Smooth Criminal

[NTN Extra Fact:...The song is featured on Alien Ant Farm's 2001 album 'ANTthology'.]

*For those who have never heard of Alien Ant Farm, you could only narrow down your choices. Knock out 'The Hustle' as not being by Michael Jackson. Ok four to go. Now think the album 'Thriller' from 1982/83 and that peels off 'Thriller' and 'Billie Jean'. Now 'Bad' (the single) was actually popular in 1987 whereas 'Smooth Criminal' first charted November 1988 although the Bad album from which it came was released in 1987 so the quizmakers were right on that count.

I'm right and win as ROCKET with 56250 although both my boards have the same score. I earn 3000+ points for meeting the standard of 18000. I finish 14th on the Network Top 20 boards for all North America. The bar was 12th in North America with a 52353 average.

I walked both ways here tonight for the first time since my operation. No beer again tonight because now I've read that Tylenol takers who drink alcohol damage their liver. I expect that I will stop taking Tylenol before the week's over.

I knew absolutely none of the answers! Rob gave me the answers. He had watched soap operas on summer vacation in his school days and read the magazines. The other bars had low scoring scores too and we only controlled four boards at this time of night.

I played ROCKET first to get the 2000 point standard within five questions but couldn't get LITBOX over the line so didn't play ROCKET again.
