NTN Encore Question of October 10th, 2009.
Played at The Squire & Firkin in Etobicoke, Ontario.
Headliner:...ERIC CLAPTON over Rod Stewart and David Bowie
Encore Question:...Which Eric Clapton CD is a collection of songs by blues artist Willie Dixon?
Tonight I'm playing with two boards as ROCKET and LITBOX with Rob COSMO/PLBAAB and Sean METLCA.
The monitor that we usually watch is broken so we ask for a booth and they switch a television from the hockey game so we can play.
Here's how my game went and my comments: TuneUp...ROCKET...3000/5000...4th/5...LITBOX, COSMO and PLBAAB win the round with 4000. .............LITBOX...4000/5000...1st/5...I guessed on four of these including two splits of which LITBOX was right on both of them. The LineUp...ROCKET...11000/15000...4th/5...I think all five of our boards co-win round. ...........LITBOX...12000/15000...1st/5. I got 8 right out of 10 with me calling out most of the answers which was good in this round. Triviaoke...ROCKET...17750/25000...4th/5...PLBAAB wins round. ..........LITBOX...18750/25000...1st/5...I take only one -250s in the round and two that I don't answer at all so I don't lose points. Opening Act...ROCKET...20750/35000...4th/5...METLCA wins round. ................LITBOX...21750/35000...2nd/5. The pound-key round. I can't remember how I scored here but to only get +3000 wasn't good at all. Headliner...ROCKET....36500/56500...4th/7...our five boards all co-win round. ............LITBOX...37500/56500...2nd/7. Eric Clapton...Oh no! I was writing down song and album titles for Rod Stewart on Thursday night and meant to cover David Bowie on Friday night but my PVR broke and I connected up a spare one that I'd bought last year but couldn't connect to an old television because it had no connection--now I connected it to my newer television. That meant I had to write out info on David Bowie on Saturday morning before I went to the soccer game soon after lunch...so that meant no time for Eric Clapton except about a 15 minute read on Wikipedia. I was ready to write the whole evening off as an omen. "Don't you remember you said that about Whitney Houston and we swept the round?" said Rob. The questions were pretty general knowledge and we only missed "Blackie" as the nickname for his guitar and that was the 2nd question so it didn't ruin our bonus points too much. Other questions included--What band was he NOT in?, Bob Marley cover song, album title where the only real one was "Pilgrim", photo of the "461 Ocean Boulevard" album cover had palm trees in it, and the remake of Layla.
Now the Encore betting comes up. Well 50% as usual. We can be wrong and just squeeze over the 18000 point target to get our 3000+ Players Plus points.

I'm not sure of this. The others don't know. I rule out three of them as "Just One Night" should be a concert album, and "Backless" and "Slowhand" were just regular albums. I read on Wikipedia he had two cover albums of Robert Johnson songs. It could be '1' or '4' but I know that 'From The Cradle" was definately cover songs but I don't know by who. Like last week's logic that NTN would offer a reasonable answer first before reading through them so I felt it was more likely '4'. I talk my friends out of '2'. "You should have 'sold' us more on your answer" my friends say so I expected they split.
Correct Answer:....4. From The Cradle
[NTN Extra Fact:...The 1994 album reached #1 and sold over 2 million copies.]
My friends were just kidding around and they did go with my answer!
My Rod Stewart and David Bowie notes can be kept in a folder as they'll be asked within the next few months.
