John...I'm glad this week's categories were all first names as I didn't feel guilty about not studying as I don't have time with the local soccer season still in progress. Tonight's questions were all with artists with the first name John. Questions like the birth name turning out to be John Denver and a John Lennon song lyric were alright but some were tough like the opening track on a John Cougar Mellancamp album. My "Widespread Panic" answer was a guess. I missed the 5th, 6th, 7th and 9th question but at least I built up some bonus points early.

This was very easy. I have bought a Johnny Mathis greatest hits CD earlier this year and still haven't played it yet but have read through the titles. I've known this artist for years brought to my attention especially in the 1980s when impressionist comedian John Byner on his television show Bizarre always sang Johnny Mathis songs to annoy producer "Super Dave Osbourne". Rob has mentioned the right answer a split second before me. Who sang the other song? Lionel Richie? Not really any guy from the 1950s to mix up with. When I got home I couldn't find a Mathis listing for an album cut of this name.
