Tonight I'm playing with two boards as ROCKET and LITBOX with Rob COSMO, Sean METLCA, and Phil PLBAAB.
This is the first week of the redesigned game being used. I had heard there'd be changes but didn't know what would be different. Here's how my game went and my comments of the changes: TuneUp (or may have had a different title)...ROCKET...4000/5000...5th/5...LITBOX, COSMO, METLCA, PLBAAB co-win round. .............LITBOX...4500/5000...1st/5...I split one of my answers. This is the only round that hasn't changed. Still a choice of two answers. Right for 500 and wrong for 0. The LineUp...ROCKET...12000/15000...4th/5...METCLA wins round and has 13500. ...........LITBOX...12500/15000...2nd/5...there are 10 questions this round. You're either right for 1000 points or wrong for 0. There is no counting down. This is instead of the OnBeat round which was 9 questions of right or wrong, no countdown. These questions were from all eras of music rather than all current-news musical questions. I thought there were only two questions about current music. Looks like if I miss reading Billboard when the soccer season starts, it won't be a great loss. Triviaoke...ROCKET...19148/25000...1st/5...ROCKET wins round...I had help in this round. ..........LITBOX...19597/25000...2nd/5...I take two -250s this round. This round is exactly like the old Triviaoke round but sooner in the game and there are 10 questions instead of 8 and the lyric clues are displayed all at once instead of one line every few seconds. Opening Act...ROCKET...27148/35000...3rd/5...COSMO wins and has 27680. ................LITBOX...27597/35000...this round was something new and it took me a few questions to figure it out. The answers were displayed one at a time and you had to be patient until the correct answer was displayed before you pressed the "#" key. After the five answers were displayed, the answer choices would be highlighted one at a time and you had time to change your answer but this time it was only worth 250 points instead of 1000. A wrong answer was worth -250. I had trouble with the song '50 Ways To Leave Your Lover' because I was pressing # and then '50' before the answers even came up so the answer was recorded as the first choice displayed '10'. About the third question in I settled in and will know what to do next time. Headliner...ROCKET...37158/?????...4th/5...PLBAAB wins round...METLCA has lead with 41177. ............LITBOX...37597/?????...3rd/5...this round was 10 questions worth 1000 or -250 depending if you were right or wrong. There were bonus points given out if you guessed more than three right in a row. ie by the third question we scored 1000 for right plus 250, then 1000 plus 500 and 1000 plus 750 for the fourth and fifth questions. I got the next one wrong then continued but don't remember getting any more bonus points. I had three questions wrong in this round. The other surprise is that this round was 10 questions in a row about the same band...this week it was 'U2'. A good choice as the band released a new album and was the musical guest on David Letterman for five nights in a row this week. If the quiz writers continue like that I wonder after running through the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members, who will they choose in week 50 or week 100?
Now the Encore question comes up. There is a betting round which you can now bet 0-10-20-30-40 or 50% of your score. Betting 0% was not an option in the old game. There is however no listing of possible answers before the betting so we have no idea what the question would be about.

Oh Ok so the Encore question is the same category as the Headliner round. I'll remember that for next time. This question isn't tough. I didn't know if the question would count down so didn't give anyone else a chance to offer an answer. I own this CD after replacing my cassette tape of this years ago.

I'm right and stay in 3rd as LITBOX at 56396. I finish 87th in all North America. The bar is 14th in North America with a 56689 average...(same ranking as last week!)...I earn 3000+ points for making this week's standard which I miss seeing at the beginning of the week. Sean wins as METLCA with 61766.

Our 'regular' bar, The Frog & Firkin, actually finishes ahead of us grabbing 11th spot led by Ron CHATZ.
There was no JukeBox round any more in this game which I'll miss as at least there's a way of choosing a category that we might know. I also don't know what a 'perfect' game is. It must be over 80000 because the Kalamazoo Michigan bar got more than that and their 10 players locked up the top 10 spots.
