NTN Encore Question of January 3rd, 2009.
Played at The Squire & Firkin in Etobicoke, Ontario.
Answers:
Tonight I'm playing with two boards as ROCKET and LITBOX with Rob COSMO, Phil PLBAAB, Sean METLCA and LeAnn MS M.
My game so far had gone like this: TuneUp...ROCKET...5000/5000...1st/6...ROCKET wins by my splitting my answer for which Righteous Brother sang the opening of "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling". .............LITBOX...4500/5000...2nd/6...four way tie...one correction from the guys on Linkin Park vs Fall Out Boy being from Chicago and starting in 2001. OnBeat...ROCKET...11000/14000...3rd/6...PLBAAB and METLCA win round with 7 right and 2 wrong. ............LITBOX...10500/14000...4th/6...I'm 6 right and 3 wrong and should have had 8 but a few things I'd forgotten and I got pulled off a right answer. Jukebox...ROCKET...16922/20000...1st/6...ROCKET wins round. ............LITBOX...16407/20000...3rd/6. Triviaoke...ROCKET...20413/28000...1st/6...METLCA wins round. .............LITBOX...19876/28000...3rd/6. I took about three -250 this round. I was glad to get one of my boards to 20000 before the Encore question.
Now the Encore question comes up. Song titles. I say that there are at least three Stevie Wonder songs in here. We avoided Stevie Wonder questions in the JukeBox game a few weeks ago. What could this be about?
Encore Question:...Tony Bennett had a hit with this song one year before Stevie Wonder did:

I don't know this but concentrate on the three Stevie Wonder songs I know are up there. Sir Duke, For Once In My Life, My Cherie Amour. The one I've heard Tony Bennett sing most often (talk shows and specials) is '3' so I say that to our group and the reason why. Rob likes '1' but I didn't think Wonder ever sang that. I think we're going to have a split here...
Correct Answer:....3. For Once In My Life
[NTN Extra Fact:...Stevie's 1968 version is a bit more uptempo than Tony's.]
Tony Bennett's 'hit' song made #91 on the Billboard Hot 100 but may have been popular on other charts. Wonder's version made #2.
[The next day it's still bothering me that I can hear this song sang by the both of them so I look through my CDs. They both sing the song at the same time on Tony Bennett's "Duets--An American Classic" album from about two years ago].
I'm right and win as ROCKET at 30619. I finish 15th on the Network Top 20 in all North America. The bar is 31st in North America....I earn 3000+ points for making this week's 16000 standard. I didn't think I'd rank against other players but they must have also found it a tough game.
(ntn.com moved us up to 26th with a 21288 average out of 1724 locations)

I was playing on New Year's Eve at The Frog & Firkin and pick up 10100+ points in nine games as ROCKET. It's the first time I've ever played 'SIX' and although I missed the first round, I scored 42150. I couldn't read the categories apart until after the betting but was told they match the colours of the Trivia Pursuit game. Best game was the Countdown game at 12:15am when I finished 6th on the Network Top 20.
