Tonight I'm playing with two boards as ROCKET and LITBOX, with Rob COSMO and PLBAAB and Sean METLCA. Phil and LeeAnn are here too but Phil is officially at his union's Christmas party in the upstairs party room and just visits us bringing food and drinks. The turnout so we hear is only half of last year so there's plenty left over. The most logical explanation is that the roast beef served last year after I'd gone home resulted in my friends getting sick and maybe that scared a lot of people from coming here this year. Sean and LeeAnn have given us each a keychain flashlight which will be quite useful.

I should have known the #1 selling album of the year right although I won't read about that for maybe another two weeks. JukeBox...ROCKET...16108/20000...3rd/7...ROCKET wins round. ...........LITBOX...16106/20000...4th/7...A pretty good round for us although I would have avoided the first Aerosmith question. Triviaoke...ROCKET...23611/28000...2nd/7...METLCA wins round. ...........LITBOX...23599/28000...3rd/7...I don't take any -250 for this round and that included the last question which was the current chart hit for Finger Eleven. I own that album and could faintly remember the line they were asking about.

OK I don't waste any time figuring out that all the groups have women and men in their lineup. It's #1's and earliest. First three Sly would be the earliest. Hmm did Jefferson Airplane have a Number 1? [No they didn't.] Ahh. There they are: I say "The Mamas & The Papas with 'California Dreaming' in 1965" which just backs up Rob who said it first a second earlier. [Actually their hits didn't start until 1966 and their first #1 was 'Monday Monday'.]

The songs 'California Dreaming' and 'I Left My Heart In San Francisco' (which was a song asked during the JukeBox round) were two songs off a cassette tape "Musical Journeys" which I always play in my car when I would drive my parents any distance longer than ten minutes because they liked it. I played it last week driving my father over to my Aunt's place. My mother died just over six weeks ago. Into the bar tonight walked a neighbour from the next street over who on the day of my mother's funeral I saw walking his dog and told him the news and that her funeral would be in one hour. He looked at his watch and said "I'll be there". I meant to go over and talk to him after the game was over; more than just 'Hello' when he walked in tonight but I forgot in my rush to get home. Interesting that on my walk home I saw his brother walking that same dog and talked to him for quite awhile on this cold night.
