NTN Encore Question of June 23rd, 2007.
Played at The Frog & Firkin in North York, Ontario.
Answers:
Tonight I'm playing with two boards as ROCKET and LITBOX with Sean METLCA, Rob COSMO and PLBAAB. Phil is working and is supposed to be here later although I've left before he gets here.
My game so far had gone like this: TuneUp...ROCKET...3500/5000...4th/11...LITBOX, METLCA and LEAFS wins with 4000. ..........LITBOX...4000/5000...1st/11. I know about half of these answers without having to guess. I even split an answer for something I don't know. OnBeat...ROCKET...9500/14000...3rd/10...METLCA wins with 7 right, 2 wrong. ..........LITBOX...10000/14000...2nd/10. I was 6 right and 3 wrong for this week which was OK with my limited time to keep up with the current music scene.. JukeBox...ROCKET...15019/20000...4th/10...COSMO wins round. ...........LITBOX...15519/20000...2nd/5. This was a good round for us. 'This Year's Hits' turned out to be like more OnBeat questions but it was easy. Triviaoke...ROCKET...21159/28000...4th/10...ROCKET wins round. .........LITBOX...21659/28000...2nd/10. I didn't take any -250s this round but had help. Rob got us the Olivia Newton-John song which I would have guessed wrong.

Now the Encore answers come up. Quite a variety of possibilities. Are they all album titles? I start naming the groups.
Encore Question:...Released in 1989 this debut album was recorded for around $600.

I had named U2 for Achtung Baby, Nirvana for Bleach, Soundgarden for Pretty Hate Machine (which was wrong) and Stone Roses as the actual group. Cheshire Cat we'd never heard of.
Now the answers came up. Well I've read that Bleach was made really cheap at about the same time publicity for the group's box set was released a few years ago although I think I'd heard that fact much earlier in time.
Correct Answer:....1. Bleach
[NTN Extra Fact:...The album was Nirvana's first major step towards rock immortality.]
At home I read in my music book that this was an album made before Dave Grohl joined the band. Hmm. And Phil who I've thought looked like Dave Grohl a few years ago, wasn't here tonight. Another omen?
I'm right and stay in 2nd place with LITBOX at 32488. I finish 8th overall in North America. The bar is 4th in North America with a 32158 average. I earn 3000+ points for making this week's standard of either 16000 or 18000 points. Sean wins as METLCA with 33694 and is 6th on the Network Top 20. [ntn.com left us in 4th place out of 1849 bars.]

I noticed that a Simpson's question worked it's way into this game. These 'new' television questions were always confined to Tuned In trivia but this show has been on the air for so many years that's its earned its place.
