NTN Encore Question of March 3rd, 2007.
Played at Joe Mercury's in Toronto Ontario.

Answers:

  1. Tom Petty
  2. Bruce Springsteen
  3. Mitch Ryder
  4. John Mellencamp
  5. Bob Seger

Tonight I'm playing with two boards as ROCKET and LITBOX with Sean METLCA, Rob COSMO, and Phil PLBAAB. The bar is filling up with people wanting to see the Ultimate Fighting PPV.

My game so far had gone like this:
TuneUp...ROCKET...3500/5000...2nd/8...METLCA wins round with 4000.
..........LITBOX...3500/5000...2nd/8.
I went 1 for 4 in guessing.
OnBeat...ROCKET...8500/14000...1st/8...my two and PLBAAB win round.
..........LITBOX...8500/14000...1st/8.
5 right and 4 wrong was pretty bad. I haven't done this bad for quite awhile. I did get the Lil' Kim threw
'hair glue' among the variety of beauty parlour products listed to chuck at the attendant.
JukeBox...ROCKET...12036/20000...1st/8...HEVY D wins round.
...........LITBOX...12052/20000...1st/8.
My score was helped by getting the two 'O Canada' questions in this round. I think I only got one other for
near top marks.
Triviaoke...ROCKET...15801/28000...2nd/8...COSMO wins round.
.........LITBOX...15804/28000...1st/8.
I take three -250 in this round which was just worse than the last few weeks but not a surprise on this night
with all the other rounds not going well for me.

Now the Encore answers come up. Rockers. Well at least maybe I can salvage the P+ points. It's the first time I remember being UNDER their standard before the Encore question.

Encore Question:...'The Best That I Could Be' is the greatest hits collection from which all American rocker?:

I mumble out Tom Petty but quickly tell everyone that it's John Mellencamp. I have to go back to thinking of whether I bought this CD or not. I knew I thought long about buying it at the old Future Shop in my neighbourhood as I had some of his individual albums but had to wait until I got home tonight to make sure I did eventually buy it. Well we had the answer with 25 seconds to go. If only the rest of the game had gone like that.

Correct Answer:....4. John Mellencamp

[NTN Extra Fact:...The 1997 compilation begins with the US Top 40 hit "I Need A Lover".]

I'm right and win as LITBOX with 23706. I finish 1896th in all North America. The bar is 358th in North America. I earn 3000+ points for making this week's standard of 20000 points.
(ntn.com moved our bar up to 29th out of 2113 bars with a 21994 average). It turned out to be tough game for most locations.

Here's how the rest of the bar did:
Player	preEncore	Final	Rank	ntn.com rank
LITBOX	15804 23706	1896 271
ROCKET	15801 23701	1898 272
METLCA	14993 22489	2312 342
COSMO	13890 20835	2878 494
PLBAAB	12826 19239	3423 637

DRUID 2563	x 1282	9561	8908
(ntn.com listed 10592 players)

The subways were being rerouted because of track repairs so I was a bit later tonight even though I left to get here early. It acted like an omen.
