NTN Encore Question of December 23rd, 2006.
Played at Joe Mercury's in Toronto Ontario.

Answers:

  1. Brown Sugar
  2. Jumpin' Jack Flash
  3. Gimme Shelter
  4. Ruby Tuesday
  5. Sympathy For The Devil

Tonight I'm playing with two boards as ROCKET and LITBOX with Rob COSMO, Sean METLCA, and Phil PLBAAB. I'd played my worst Playback game for as long as I remember.

My game so far had gone like this:
TuneUp...ROCKET...4000/5000...1st/8...my two boards co-win round with COSMO and TCB.
..........LITBOX...4000/5000...1st/8.
I went 2 for 4 in guessing.
OnBeat...ROCKET...12000/14000...1st/7...my two boards co-win with COSMO and PLBAAB.
..........LITBOX...12000/14000...2nd/5.
8 right and 1 wrong had me very pleased. I guessed right twice and had PLBAAB guess right once.
JukeBox...ROCKET...14832/20000...3rd/7...TCB wins round.
...........LITBOX...14841/20000...2nd/7.
Yuck. We got what we wanted from among not prime choices but I had too many times switching
for under 200 points.
Triviaoke...ROCKET...15679/28000...4th/7...HEVY D wins round.
.........LITBOX...15692/28000...3rd/7.
I think I took five -250s in this round again for about my worst ever try at this. The song "Anna Molly" by
Incubus has only been on the charts for three weeks and I haven't heard it yet and couldn't guess the lyrics.
Many of the songs had no 'joke' answers.

Now the Encore answers come up. Rolling Stones songs! What can they ask that I don't know? I'm telling the guys to cue in on '5' because the quizmakers have almost run the board with the last four weeks having the right answer as '1-2-3-4'. I start talking about what I'd read about the song playing at the Altamont concert at the time of the stabbing.

Encore Question:...Which Rolling Stones song makes a direct reference to the Kennedy assassinations?

I know this one before the answers come back up. Another Triviaoke song again like last week. Well it was easier than any song in the Triviaoke round.

Correct Answer:....5. Sympathy For The Devil

[NTN Extra Fact:...It also makes references to The Crucifixition and The Inquisition.]

I'm right and stay in 3rd place as LITBOX with 23538. I finish 1785th overall in all North America. The bar is 173rd in North America. I earn 3000+ points for making this week's standard of 19000 points. COSMO wins at 25198. [ntn.com moved our bar up to 27th out of 1709 bars in North America with a 23226 average].

I had been thinking about The Rolling Stones on my way here because they had the top grossing tour of the year but that was asked last week. That thought blended into an old 'Alas Smith and Jones' bit from British television about coming up with a new group name. "I know...let's call him 'The Rolling Stones'!" "Umm there already is a group called 'The Rolling Stones'". "Oh yeah....(long pause)....How about 'THE Rolling Stones'?". I thought was so stupid when I first saw it but for years since, I've laughed long and hard.

Here's how the rest of the bar did:
Player	preEncore	Final	Rank	ntn.com rank
COSMO	16789 25198	1205 164
TCB	15826 23739	1715 249
LITBOX	15692 23538	1785 255
ROCKET	15679 23518	1792 258

PLBAAB	13263 19894	3056 507
HEVY D	12824 19236	3286 569
[ntn.com listed 6726 players]
