Played at The Frog & Firkin in North York Ontario.

Answers:

  1. Fabian
  2. Chubby Checker
  3. Pat Boone
  4. Bobby Rydell
  5. Frankie Avalon

Tonight I'm playing with two boards as ROCKET and LITBOX with Dougie CRANKY. No chance of ranking the bar tonight with only three boards.

My game so far had gone like this:
TuneUp...ROCKET...3500/5000...2nd/3...CRANKY wins round with 4500.
..........LITBOX...3000/5000...3rd/3.
I couldn't guess anything right and split on another one.
OnBeat...ROCKET...11500/14000...1st/3...my two win this round.
..........LITBOX...11000/14000...2nd/3.
8 right and 1 wrong was great. Dougie said not to help him and he ended up with only two right.
JukeBox...ROCKET...16201/20000...1st/4...LITBOX wins round.
...........LITBOX...15711/20000...2nd/4.
With a group this small, I got the categories I wanted although some of them were a choice
of tough categories. Even though my friends weren't here, it was if their names were mentioned by the questions:
3. Eddie: Eddie is the name of the demonic mascot that appears on albums and memorabilia: Metallica, Tool, IRON MAIDEN, Godsmack, Olivia Newton-John Well that takes care of two of my friends as Rob COSMO and Sean METLCA have gone to Niagara Falls tonight to see Olivia. 5. Aches: Released in 2000, "My Favourite Headache" was the first solo album released by the lead singer of: RUSH, Aerosmith, Journey, Phish, Counting Crows Phil PLBAAB is also AWOL so I was on my own tonight. Rush is his favourite band.
Triviaoke...ROCKET...19485/28000...1st/4...ROCKET wins round. .........LITBOX...18789/28000...2nd/4. I took three bit -250s in this round. I had wondered if knowing the Styx song right away but putting in the wrong answer and not looking would keep me from the 20000 standard I wanted.

Now the Encore answers come up. The 1950s? Before my time but I've heard enough Oldies shows growing up that I might get this.

Encore Question:...This Philadelphia native's 1960s hits included "Volare" and "Forget Him":

.

I was looking for the first singer of "Volare"...a European guy but couldn't think of his name [Domenico Modugno] then Dean Martin. Nope. Well I'll concentrate on the other song. I can narrow it down in a split second to Fabian and Bobby Rydell. (Chubby Checker=dance craze songs, Pat Boone and Frankie Avalon=just know enough of their songs). I've seen enough Fabian songs to guess that it wasn't him (Wild One, Turn Me Loose, Tiger). Oops. Wild One is a Bobby Rydell song! There are a few other Bobby Rydell type singers (like James Darren) I might have fallen for that aren't up here. Yeah I'm confident enough to tell Dougie to pick '4'.

My music book at home has all five singers listed as born or raised in Philadelphia except Pat Boone which made me glad I didn't spend time trying to answer based on that clue.

Correct Answer:....4. Bobby Rydell

[NTN Extra Fact:...Rydell played Hugo Peabody in the 1963 film version of "Bye Bye Birdie".]

I'm right and win as ROCKET with 29227. I finish 18th overall on the Network Top 20 in all North America. The bar is 414th in North America. I earn 3000+ points for making this week's standard of 18000 points. [ntn.com moved us up to 60th place out of 1610 bars with a 15501 average].

The scores were very low this game for me to rank on the Top 20 so I was pleased that I could still show that I can get by without a team.

Here's how the rest of the bar did:
Player	preEncore	Final	Rank	ntn.com rank
ROCKET	19485 29227 18 58
LITBOX	18979 28468 21 66
CRANKY	12208 18312	3550 478
QWERTY 1000 1500	9471	5418
[ntn.com listed 6511 players]

Other games:...I start the game with ROCKET at 3,511,000 and LITBOX at 1,249,500 P+ points.
7:30pm...Triviaoke...ROCKET...624/15000...3rd/4...500+ points...I'm 9417th...the bar is 2274th...I'm not sure who won.
I have a board in time for the last five questions but am just awful. Three wrong for 0 points. Maybe an omen.
8:00pm...Jukebox...ROCKET...11330/14000...1st/3...1000+ points...I'm 10th in NA...bar is 851st in NA.
I forgot that this game doesn't break after 5 and so am looking around and miss the 6th question.
8:30pm...Tuned-in TV...ROCKET...10569/15000...1st/3...1000+ points...I'm 859th in NA...bar is 1514th in NA.
...............LITBOX...8356/15000...3rd/3...1000+ points...I'm 2773rd in NA. Early trouble logging on.
No Simpson's questions this week. Great!
9:00pm...Playback (see above).
10:00pm...RetroTV Countdown...ROCKET...11461/15000...1st/4...1000+ points...I'm 1673rd in NA.
..............LITBOX...11456/15000...2nd/4...1000+ points...I'm 1677th in NA...bar is 1149th in NA.
A little help from Dougie or I wouldn't even have got that much.
