Tonight I'm playing with two boards as ROCKET and LITBOX with Dougie CRANKY. I hadn't expected to be here as the soccer game I was at ended just before 8:00pm. Since it was an exhibition game the teams didn't give out lineups or one team didn't wear numbered uniforms so I didn't feel obliged to write a long game report for the other half of my web page. I had time to drive home, park my car and run over to the subway and catch the train for two stops to the Frog & Firkin. I thought two of my friends would be there but they weren't so I sat at the bar. I was giving signals during the game to Dougie but he came over to sit beside me halfway through the Triviaoke round.
My game so far had gone like this: TuneUp...ROCKET...4000/5000...2nd/6...LITBOX wins round. ..........LITBOX...4500/5000...1st/6. I split on one question and get one other one wrong. OnBeat...ROCKET...12000/14000...2nd/6...my two and CRANKY win round with me signalling the answers to Dougie. ..........LITBOX...12500/14000...1st/6. 8 right and 1 wrong was great as I expected I'd start dropping off having spent less time reading news on the internet with the soccer season starting. Even the question I missed I thought I'd read that Shakira was more beautiful than Jennifer Lopez especially as it was Spanish titled magazine. Sam Roberts new album makes this American game! I take two -250 this round including the Olivia Newton-John song. How I miss COSMO as I know he'd have got that for 1000! It turned out CRANKY had the answer right for the full 1000.

Easy! I heard this song the year I got my first radio and could hear pop music. Well I'm in right away. I made sure Dougie had it. Who else can I help to build a good bar score? Table of three. "Do you want to know the answer?" "Yes" so I tell them. Next table of two, same question. No they say they no it. OK. (Some people may be playing against themselves and don't want some stranger spoiling it so I ask first).

I'm right and win as LITBOX. I finish 30th overall in North America with 33177. The bar is 346th in North America. I earn 3000+ points for making this week's standard of 21000 points. [ntn.com moved us up to 37th of 1847 bars].
I get a surprise when I see COSMO ranked 14th on the Network Top 20 at 34624 points playing at Joe Mercury's. I wouldn't have had time to get there before the game started. (ntn.com ranked his bar at 52nd so I got him on that one). Yep the difference was the swingaround from me getting the Olivia Newton-John lyric wrong. However if we'd played together we might have helped each other with our scores. Next week I know for sure I won't be playing trivia.
