  2. Twisted Sister
  3. Van Halen
  4. Metallica
  5. Spinal Tap

Tonight I'm playing with two boards as ROCKET and LITBOX with Rob COSMO, Sean METLCA, and Phil PLBAAB. Phil didn't get here until the JukeBox round so Sean answered on his board until then.

My game so far had gone like this:
TuneUp...ROCKET...4000/5000...1st/9...the five of us win round.
..........LITBOX...4000/5000...1st/9.
I went 1 for 3 in guessing. I should have got the Sarah McLachlan album question as I own it.
OnBeat...ROCKET...12000/14000...1st/9...my two and METLCA and PLBAAB win round.
..........LITBOX...12000/14000...1st/9.
8 right and 1 wrong was great as I had never heard of the one we missed. Sean is upset because he figured out the
one we all missed as the country holding the peace concert but changed his answer. I get the 'SOS' song
right--knowing the riff is from 'Tainted Love' as I have the Rihanna song playing on my walkman on the walk
down here. Now in the next hour we hear the original Soft Cell song on the bar's satellite music system.
JukeBox...ROCKET...17144/20000...2nd/8...LITBOX wins round.
...........LITBOX...17165/20000...1st/8.
I get the producer of 'The Wall' as Bob Ezrin, local guy, right away to make up for flubbing the Sarah McLachlan
question earlier.
Triviaoke...ROCKET...22745/28000...3rd/8...METLCA wins round.
.........LITBOX...22802/28000...2nd/8.
I take one -250 this round. Sean passed me on the last song but I was just glad I changed my answer to earn
6 and 26 points instead of another -250.

Now the Encore answers come up. I'm more worried that my microrecorder batter is dead. It still played but wouldn't record which I didn't test before leaving for here tonight. Just a wake-up call for the start of the soccer season. I swat myself later when I realize that I could have borrowed the batteries from my walkman for this game. Get ready for some semi-shorthand.

Encore Question:..."Animal House" actor Mark Metcalf appeared in this band's 1984 video for "I Wanna Rock":

.

.

.

.

Easy! I say it just before Sean. Rob had never heard of it. Now 28 seconds to write down the question.

Correct Answer:....2. Twisted Sister

[NTN Extra Fact:...Metcalf was also in their video "We're Not Gonna Take It".]

I'm right and stay at 2nd as LITBOX. I finish 10th overall in North America with 34203. The bar is 5th in North America with a 33179 average. I earn 3000+ points for making this week's standard of 21000 points. Sean wins and is 6th on the Network Top 20 and 5th on this bar's Hall of Fame Top 10 for best scores in the last year. [ntn.com kept us in 5th place out of 1900 bars].

I had picked my three favourite videos of all time many years ago. There were lots I liked but I chose one's where I didn't like the band but the videos were so good or different that it ended up I liked the songs. The rampage of this actor in the first two minutes (the only part I really liked) of their "We're Not Gonna Take It" video when he was yelling at his son was so over the top but reminded me of myself growing up. The song "I Wanna Rock" is playing in the background of the first video when Metcalf hears the music from his son's room. "What is that? Oh I know what that is...that's music". (strange that the day before I was playing Michael Jackson's "Black Or White" on my walkman and it has George Wendt and Macaulay Culkin in the similar father-son roles). I do remember the "I Wanna Rock" video with Metcalf playing a schoolteacher and grabbing the cheek of a fat kid at his desk drawing a Twisted Sister logo on 'this defenseless textbook'.

The other fav videos on my list were "One" by Metallica with its working in movie footage from 'Johnny Got His Gun' and a Japanese video called "Freeze Moon" where a guy was covered in about 20 coats of colourful paint and the video was played backwards and he gradually had all the buckets of paint fly off him and he ended up in a white suit. Yep I saw something similar in a Jack Johnson video many years later.

The highest score was less than 38000 so there was chance we could have won this. That may be our high water mark as it's my last week before 'stupid season' starts--with me following the local soccer scene meaning I won't be able to keep up with current news and our OnBeat rounds will suffer until the end of October. Next week I will be at a preseason game on Saturday night so won't be playing NTN. Same thing the next week.
