NTN Encore Question of March 18th, 2006.
Played at the Frog & Firkin in North York Ontario.

Answers:

  1. Diana Krall
  2. Beth Hart
  3. Lori Carson
  4. PJ Harvey
  5. Liz Phair

Tonight I'm playing with two boards as ROCKET and LITBOX with Rob COSMO and Phil PLBAAB. Sean said he wouldn't be out this week so we went out of order and chose the Frog & Firkin for the second week in a row. Getting a second board was tough but after asking a waitress for one 45 minutes earlier, I went over and asked myself. Still we didn't have a fifth board.

My game so far had gone like this:
TuneUp...ROCKET...4500/5000...1st/5...our four boards all co-win round.
..........LITBOX...4500/5000...1st/5.
I went 0 for 1 in guessing.
OnBeat...ROCKET...11500/14000...1st/5...the four of us go 7 for 9 to co-win round.
..........LITBOX...11500/14000...1st/5.
7 right and 2 wrong was just alright. Rob got me one right and pulled me off a right answer.
JukeBox...ROCKET...16319/20000...1st/5...ROCKET wins round and has lead.
...........LITBOX...16316/20000...2nd/5.
Triviaoke...ROCKET...21641/28000...2nd/5...LITBOX wins round.
.........LITBOX...21661/28000...1st/5.
I took two -250 this round for final lines that didn't rhyme. I went for the lines that did.

Now the Encore answers come up. I've only heard of three of these women which isn't a good start.

Encore Question:..."LA Song" is the best known recording by this singer/songwriter from Los Angeles:

.

.

.

.

Before the answers came back up, I said it wasn't Diana Krall because she is from [Nainamo] British Columbia Canada. That's all I can get rid of though. That's four choices left. I don't know the song and don't know where any of these artists are from. I say when asked I'll go both boards on Liz Phair but that I don't know. The others split to cover '3' and '4'. That leaves '2' open. It's up to me to split my boards but I won't.

Correct Answer:....2. Beth Hart

[NTN Extra Fact:...She attended LA's High School for the Performing Arts as a vocalist and cellist.]

Nope don't know her. It would have been ironic if I'd have played more of my Bret Hart (pro-wrestler) video this week. I found a snippet of the song on the internet and listened. Nope, never heard of it before. 12 weeks on the Singles charts in 1999 and peaked at #90.

I'm wrong but still win as LITBOX at 10831. I finish 369th in North America. The bar is 1270th in North America. I earn only 1500+ points for making this week's standard of 18000 points. It's only the second time I've missed the Encore so far in 2006. [ntn.com moved our bar up to 209th out of 1857 bars with a 9508 average].

Well 30,000 points would have been good enough to finish on the Network Top 20. Maybe I should have split and one of us would have covered it. A good bar score wasn't going to happen with only four boards anyway and us splitting.

Here's how the rest of the bar did:
Player	preEncore	Final	Rank	ntn.com rank
LITBOX	21661	x	10831 369	1217
ROCKET	21641	x	10821 370	1223
COSMO	20929	x	10465 394	1318
PLBAAB	18688	x 9344 527	1681
QWERTY	12166	x 6083	3833	3599
[ntn.com listed 8717 players]

Other games:...I start the evening with ROCKET at 3,439,000 P+ points and LITBOX at 1,152,000.
All the games were 8000 or 9000 standards to make 1000 P+ points. 7:30pm...Countdown...ROCKET...3643/15000...7th/8...500+ points...I'm 5909th in NA...bar is 392nd...COSMO wins.
I've got a board in time for the last five questions. 8:00pm...Countdown...ROCKET...12634/15000...1st/6...1000+ points...I'm 83rd...bar is 43rd.
8:30pm...Tuned In TV Countdown...ROCKET...10560/15000...3rd/6...1000+ points...I'm 233rd in NA...bar is 217th...PLBAAB wins.
No Simpsons question this week. Great.
9:00pm...Playback (see above).
There was the Dodge Truck pull mini-game tonight...I split my boards and covered one of the right ones. White won but I didn't see any points.
10:00pm...RetroTV Countdown...ROCKET...14549/15000...1st/4...1000+ points...I'm 86th in NA.
.............LITBOX...14512/15000...2nd/4...1000+ points...I'm 93rd in NA...bar is 540th in NA.
