Tonight I'm playing with two boards as ROCKET and LITBOX with Rob COSMO, Sean METLCA and Phil PLBAAB as the minimum five boards to rank our bar.

My game so far had gone like this:
TuneUp...ROCKET...5000/5000...1st/6...all five of our boards co-won this round.
..........LITBOX...5000/5000...1st/6.
no real guessing needed in this round.
OnBeat...ROCKET...12000/14000...3rd/6...PLBAAB wins round.
..........LITBOX...12000/14000...3rd/6.
7 right and 2 wrong. I almost stopped playing one question short.
JukeBox...ROCKET...17863/20000...2nd/6...my two boards win round.
...........LITBOX...17863/20000...2nd/6.
I got outvoted in a few categories but we did very well this round.
Triviaoke...ROCKET...21978/28000...3rd/6...COSMO wins round.
.........LITBOX...21978/28000...3rd/6.
I took three -250s in this round.

Now the Encore answers come up. Old time Country stars. Phil makes sure Rob risks 50% this time--no accidents.

Encore Question:...This country music icon was the inspiration for Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You":

.

Someone said "It's got to be Porter Wagoner". When I first saw these choices I said Porter Wagoner gave Dolly Parton her big break on his television show. The question then came up. I said that it would be Porter Wagoner unless she had an affair with one of these other old guys. The television show was my only link so that's what I was going with. I'd never read about Dolly's reasoning. Good thing Burt Reynolds wasn't up there as she sang this in the movie they were in together.

Correct Answer:....3. Porter Wagoner

[NTN Extra Fact:...In 1995 he joined Dolly and Vince Gill for a performance of the song at the Grand Ol' Opry.]

Just like the Junior Murvin question a few weeks ago (as in spooky) I was playing a Country hits compilation CD from 1990 I'd got from the $2.00 used pile last year and there was Dolly Parton's "Why'd You Come In Here Lookin' Like That" as one of the 16 songs.

I'm right and my two boards stay tied for 3rd place. I finish 26th in all North America. The bar is 8th in North America with a 32991 average. COSMO wins and is 12th on the Network Top 20 and 7th on this bar's Hall Of Fame. I earn 3000+ points for making this week's standard of 19000. [ntn.com keeps us in 8th place out of 1798 bars.]

Here's how the rest of the bar did:
Player	preEncore	Final	Rank	ntn.com rank
COSMO	23085 34627 12 42
PLBAAB	21995 32992 25 76
ROCKET	21978 32967 26 77
LITBOX	21978 32967 26 78

[ntn.com lists 7136 players]

One Simpsons' question this week and the others know the answer. I had lots of help to get this score. Phil arrives in the middle of the game and Sean gives him one of his boards.
9:00pm...Playback (see above).
after this game we can't even try for an easy 500+ in the Dodge Truck race betting game. I didn't make the right choice anyway even with splitting my boards.
10:00pm...RetroTV...ROCKET...13431/15000...1st/5...1000+ points...I'm 125th in NA.
...........LITBOX...13431/15000...1st/5...1000+ points...I'm 125th in NA...bar is 120th in NA.
Wow I kept the synchronized fingers going for every game and every question tonight.

Next week I plan on going to "Joe Mercury's".
