Tonight I'm playing with one board as ROCKET with Rob COSMO, Sean METLCA, and Phil PLBAAB. I've never been to this bar before. My friends told me before I got here they only have ten Playmakers.
My game so far had gone like this: TuneUp...ROCKET...4500/5000...3rd/8...METLCA, and TCB co-win round. OnBeat...ROCKET...11500/14000...5th/8...PLBAAB, HEVY D, and TCB win round. 7 right and 2 wrong is just fine. I haven't had internet access for three days as my provider is trying to convert my dial-up service to high-speed but something has gone wrong. The questions that I did get are those that have been in the mainstream press. JukeBox...ROCKET...15141/20000...6th/9...TCB wins round and has lead with 18045. I found this a difficult round this week although we got the categories we wanted. Triviaoke...ROCKET...22133/28000...1st/9...I win this round. Amazing! The round I usually do worst in but I take no -250s and take the lead.

I should have had this Encore. I remember reading about Midler's album a few months ago and thinking at the time this would be asked as an OnBeat question because they'd asked the Encore "Kiss My Brass" earlier in the year as the name of her 2004 tour. I'd have liked to have set my brain to work instead of leaving it to Rob. Rob was right about Midler covering Rosemary Clooney songs in 2003.
I'd never been to this bar before. It was right outside the Dundas West station which means two subways to get there. It didn't take much longer in time than when I walk to the Frog & Firkin. I like my regular place better because I can listen to my walkman coming and going. On the subway it does give me a chance to read whatever I've brought with me...this week reading a Billboard magazine from two weeks ago.
This place had Karaoke start up just after the end of the Playback game so it was not a distraction. Most of the talent was the same three guys who my friends have nicknames for---like Mumbles for his singing style. Other characters to watch out while the games were on was TCB who my friends don't like but I didn't hear anything from him all night. The bar kindly turned on a second monitor so we could all sit around our table like we were playing cards rather than squashed together like a TV sitcom.

Next week since my friends plan on going back to The Frog & Firkin, I'll go back too and hopefully find at least one monitor not tuned to Video Poker so we can play NTN Trivia.
