Played at the Frog & Firkin in North York Ontario.

  2. Help Me Rhonda
  3. I Get Around
  4. Good Vibrations
  5. Surfin' USA

Tonight I'm playing with two boards as ROCKET and LITBOX with Bill MADDOG and Richard BERGIE/GHQ. Richard starts up a fifth board about four questions in and we didn't realize how important it would be. I didn't expect to be here this week but a soccer game that I was going to was postponed by wet grounds.

My game so far had gone like this:
TuneUp...ROCKET...4500/5000...1st/8...my two boards and MADDOG win round.
..........LITBOX...4500/5000...1st/8.
OnBeat...ROCKET...10500/14000...1st/8...my two boards win.
..........LITBOX...10500/14000...1st/8.
6 right and 3 wrong was good for me as I didn't expect to be here and didn't study. With my computer modem being
knocked out, I wasn't able to read music news on the internet. I didn't open my Billboard magazine until I got to the
pub.
JukeBox...ROCKET...15308/20000...1st/5...MADDOG wins round.
...........LITBOX...15289/20000...2nd/5.
We got the categories we wanted and did pretty well. Good call by Bill on the 1950 question to guess Frank Sinatra
as the top moneymaker.
Triviaoke...ROCKET...21819/28000...1st/5th...ROCKET wins round.
.........LITBOX...21783/28000...2nd/5.
I took only one -250 but it was for the Simple Plan song and I own the CD. The other modern songs I don't own yet
guess them right. Bill got the Mustang Sally lyrics early as I remember him singing it at Joe Grinders.

Now the Encore answers come up. All Beach Boys songs. The pressures on me because I am a huge fan of this group.

Encore Question:...Which Beach Boys song's melody was lifted from Chuck Berry's "Sweet Little Sixteen"?

I knew it was one of their early songs and as soon as the answers came back up I was able to get it within seconds. I spent the rest of the time getting my friends to compare the two songs. Very similar. I'd read this fact before. OK we're all in.

Correct Answer:....5. Surfin' USA

[NTN Extra Fact:...A legal dispute resulted in Berry receiving sole songwriting credit.]

I'm right and win as ROCKET with 32728. I finish 10th on the Network Top 20 in all North America. The bar finishes at 12th with a 27371 average. I earn 3000+ points for meeting this week's standard of 20000 points. [ntn.com kept our bar in 12th place with a 27371 average].

Here's how the rest of the bar did:
Player	preEncore	Final	Rank	ntn.com rank
ROCKET	21819 32728 10 29
LITBOX	21783 32674 12 31
MADDOG	18420 27630 51 136
BERGIE	15490 23235 92 333
GHQ	13727 20590 124 485
[ntn.com listed 8043 players]

I didn't expect a Top 20 game for myself. With no home internet for two weeks as I wait for a part to be delivered to me, I will have trouble keeping up.

Other games:...I start the evening with ROCKET at 3,268,000 P+ points and LITBOX at 1,068,500.
8:00pm...Countdown...ROCKET...5287/15000...4th/7...500+ points...I'm 4936th in NA.
.........LITBOX...5229/15000...5th/7...500+ points...I'm 4992nd in NA...bar is 1038th...MADDOG wins.
