Encore Question of March 27th, 2004.
Played at the Frog & Firkin in North York Ontario.
Answers:
Tonight I'm playing with two boards, ROCKET and LITBOX. Richard BERGIE and Kevin JAGUAR are with me at a table as I'd set up here away from the crowded bar. I was ready to move to the bar when some space cleared about half hour before Playback started but Richard arrived so we just asked the waitress to adjust one of the televisions because the one I'd been staring at kept cycling through an on-screen menu and it made it difficult to see '5' choices.
My game so far had gone like this: TuneUp...ROCKET...4500/5000...1st/8...my two co-win round with BERGIE. ............LITBOX...4500/5000...1st/8. OnBeat...ROCKET...10500/14000...1st/8...my two win round. ............LITBOX...10500/14000...1st/8...6 right and 3 wrong were the same as last week but two items I don't remember reading about incidents in American stores. Michael Jackson in a Wal-Mart and music burning in Starbucks. JukeBox...ROCKET...16370/20000...2nd/8...LITBOX wins round. ...........LITBOX...16376/20000...1st/8...pretty good recovery in this round as we got what categories we wanted and I hit some lucky guesses. Triviaoke...ROCKET...17581/28000...2nd/8...MADDOG wins round. .........LITBOX...17596/28000...1st/8. I opened up with four -250s in a row and end up with five -250s for I believe the worst Triviaoke round I've ever played in all my years of playing. Geez, I even own Prince's "The Most Beautiful Girl In The World".
Now the Encore answers come up. Yeah OK. I know all these albums but it's going to be something harder than just matching the artist. Well getting the Encore question is the reason to keep playing.
Encore Question:..."In The Flesh" is a notable track from this hypnotic album:
.
.
.
Richard knows this one right away. I'll agree but think why. I own Pink Floyd's "Dark Side Of The Moon" and it's not on that. I own Paul Simon's "Graceland' and 'Led Zeppelin IV' and put them out in that order. The last two? I wouldn't call The Clash 'hypnotic' so that would leave me with the other Pink Floyd album. OK I would have got it at the twenty second mark so Richard beat me by that much. Bill MADDOG is playing at the bar and turns around to us. He says he's confused because Kevin is waving 'Hello' at him when he turns around with a full hand--which could be confused with a '5' for each finger so we all call out we're going with '4'.
Correct Answer:....4. The Wall
[NTN Extra Fact:...Two of the album's songs are "In The Flesh". One has a "?"; the other doesn't.]
Richard tells me the context of this song in the album. I say I saw Bob Geldolf when he was in town filming the movie 'The Wall' and he must have taken a night off to see a Toronto Blue Jays baseball game at old Exhibition Stadium. He was wearing a derby hat and had about three day's growth of beard and was standing only about five feet from me by the gate to get inside. Neither of us said anything.
I'm right and win with LITBOX at 26394. I finish 1654th overall for all North America. I earn 3000+ Players Plus points for meeting this week's standard of 18000 points. The bar finishes 199th in North America with a 24559 average. Not even close to a top score for bar or player's this week although the scores weren't all that high to have had a top 20 finish. [ntn.com moved our bar up to 36th].
Here's how the rest of the bar did: Player preEncore Final Rank ntn.com rank LITBOX 17596 26394 1654 266 ROCKET 17581 26371 1662 270 BERGIE 16394 24591 2224 394 JAGUAR 15445 23167 2675 530 MADDOG 14850 22275 2957 626 CHACHI 12753 x 6377 7983 4256 MER 8846 x 4423 8601 5828 SUPER 7891 11837 6257 2159 [ntn.com listed 9920 players]
Good to see Richard again. The first time I've played with Kevin that I can remember. Sure I say I hope to see them again next week but I'll miss at least ten Playbacks from between May to October for the soccer season so I won't be reliable after a few more weeks.
Other games:...I start the evening with ROCKET at 2,943,500 P+ points and LITBOX at 753,500.
7:30pm...Countdown...ROCKET...4730/15000...7th/7...1000+ points...I'm 6501st in NA...bar is 645th...WOLF M wins...I'm here in time for the last eight questions.

..............LITBOX...8986/15000...3rd/9...500+ points...I'm 1310th in NA.
*I didn't make the 9000 point standard on either board but my ROCKET board displayed me earning 1000+ points even through it had less than my other board. Lot's of 1990s questions that none of us three could get nor it looks like the rest of Canada as we're rated a top bar.
9:00pm...Playback (see above).
10:00pm...Countdown...ROCKET...12293/15000...1st/11...1000+ points...I'm 1124th in NA...I missed the bar's placing.
...............LITBOX...12284/15000...2nd/11...1000+ points...I'm 1130th in NA.
