Encore Question of January 3rd, 2004.
Played at the Frog & Firkin in North York Ontario.
Answers:
Tonight I'm playing my two boxes, ROCKET and LITBOX with Dougie XL. The couple that were playing behind us left in the middle of the game and I grabbed their two boards and played SUDZ while Dougie ran BEE.
My game so far had gone like this: TuneUp...ROCKET...4000/5000...1st/6...my two boards win round. .............LITBOX...4000/5000...1st/6...I was about 2 of 4 on guesses and another answer I didn't know was shouted out in time for me to change. OnBeat...ROCKET...11000/14000...1st/6...my two boards win round. ...........LITBOX...11000/14000...1st/6...7 right and 2 wrong...One of my rights for an obscure Country artist had me first eliminate the army general, football player, and Bachelor star. JukeBox...ROCKET...15268/20000...2nd/6...LITBOX wins round. ...........LITBOX...16104/20000...1st/6...I missed an easy answer for ROCKET because I'd moved on to the third board without seeing it actually recorded. Triviaoke...ROCKET...20675/28000...2nd/6...ROCKET wins round. .........LITBOX...21503/28000...1st/6...I start with taking the first two songs for -250 each so think a 20000 standard was out of reach.
Now the Encore answers come up. Quite a variety. Would this be a song from a soundtrack?
Encore Question:...This reggae flavored track from "My Aim Is True" is Elvis Costello's first hit:

I get this right away maybe I'm in the mood because I was playing my reggae/ska flavoured Sublime CD on the walk down here. Dougie knows it too. Good thing I know the song as I can't eliminate every song. Joe Jackson with "Steppin' Out", Elvis Presley (the other Elvis) with "Hound Dog" which is what Dougie used to know it would be '3' besides having the longest title, before the question came up. [My music book has "Man Out Of Time" on Costello's 1982 album "Imperial Ballroom" and "Less Than Zero" on this 1977 "My Aim Is True" album...good thing I don't know too much about him or I might have been torn between the songs.] This partially makes up for the OnBeat question a few weeks ago when I guessed he married Diana Krall in Canada instead of England. Elvis Costello was very popular in the New Wave scene in Toronto when he first came out and I read about him in the alternative/campus press at the time.
Correct Answer:....3. Watching The Detectives
[NTN Extra Fact:...Like those old film noir movies from the 1940's, it's a tale of betrayal and murder.]
I'm right and win as LITBOX at 32255. I'm shown as finishing 14th on the Network Top 20 for all North America. I earn 3000+ Players Plus points for meeting this week's 21000 standard. The bar finishes 16th in North America with a 26203 average. I was surprised that we ranked and glad I grabbed those abandoned boards before JukeBox. One player had gone 3 for 10 in TuneUp and I waved some handsignals during OnBeat. [NTN.com later knocked us down to 17th out of 1641 bars.]
Here's how the rest of the bar did: Player preEncore Final Rank ntn.com rank LITBOX 21503 32255 14 39 I'm ranked 4th on the Network Top 20 ROCKET 20675 31013 19 58 XL 17330 25955 1521 203 WINOS 14714 22071 2801 430 SUDZ 13123 19685 3579 652 BEE 12817 19225 3729 688 [NTN.com lists 8504 players]

One of the questions in this 10:00pm game was "Which of these songs was not done by The Police?" and the answer was "Watching The Detectives"!!! which I was only joking about before the answers were displayed.
