Tonight I'm playing with three boards with Richard BERGIE/NIFFS and we are the only players playing tonight for this and the other games. I've been getting by using an internet cafe at the end of my street until last night and so with the meter ticking away by the minute I wasn't spending my time reading music news. That fact showed during the OnBeat round.

JukeBox...ROCKET...?????/20000...3rd/5...LITBOX wins round. ......LITBOX...?????/20000...1st/5...I missed writing down my scores at the end of the round but they were 15 something. ......ASTROS...?????/20000...2nd/5...we had a great Toronto question about 'Who played with Neil Young in a group called the Mynah Birds?" with the answer Rick James! This soul funkster played with Neil Young before the CSNY days. Our friend Bill MADDOG has recounted the details a few times. Aargh. Couldn't even make 20000 points before the Encore round. At least all our boards are around 19000.

I don't know this and can only rule out Rod Stewart from first glance. Barry Gibb was doing duets with women at this time but I could only think of Barbra Streisand. Aaron Neville was possible. Richard says "Luther Vandross". We know he'd been in the news lately for having a stroke. Richard thought he'd died and not confusing him with Barry White but I'd read his mother was appearing on the talk shows promoting his new album while he recovered in the hospital. That would be the kind of thing that NTN writers would pick up on and choose to write a question about (like Johnny Cash a few weeks ago)? "We need to answer together", Richard reminded me. Yeah I was partly keeping him from going to the street festival downtown to see the band "Big Sugar" and he did have the lead. "Yeah Luther Vandross" I assured him.
