Tonight I'm playing all alone controlling two boards and have more than doubled my nearest competitor. I've had a perfect TuneUp and Encore round and have exactly 24000 going into the Encore question. My last time out for at least three weeks.
My game so far had gone like this: TuneUp...ROCKET...5000/5000...1st/7...my two boards win. .....LITBOX...5000/5000. OnBeat...ROCKET...12000/14000...1st/7...my two boards win with 7 right, 2 wrong. .....LITBOX...12000/14000...1st/7...I hadn't read that Keanu Reeves had a new band or Ol'Dirty Bastard had a another new nickname. JukeBox...ROCKET...18000/20000...1st/11...my two boards win round. ......LITBOX...18000/20000...1st/11...quick enough to know the answer or guess right and stick to it. Triviaoke...ROCKET...24000/28000...1st/11...ROCKET wins round. ......LITBOX...23965/28000...1st/11...2nd/11...only one -250 and that was the Foo Fighters modern song but at least I don't feel guilty because I don't own it.
Just before the answers come up Nick comes into the bar and Richard arrives a minute later. Good for a second and third opinion. These bands look like 'goofballs' but no, they're are some 'serious' bands here.

I was wondering how many weeks I'd hit the answer right (when I was actually playing) by knowing the answer and not having to try to pitch out the wrong ones. I didn't know at the time but it'd be nine in a row. Not going to happen this week. Well let's see I have the discography of Barenaked Ladies so it sure wasn't them. Nick suggests 'Creed'. "Too serious" I say but I'd already decided against them. Richard suggested 'Cold' because he hadn't heard of them. I put them in the serious band category too. Weezer or Blink 182? Hmm I'm going to go with 'Weezer'. I have their eponymous album (haha using last week's question wording, ie it was called Weezer) and then knew they had 'Pinkerton', then what? Looks good.

After I get home and look in my book and see that so far that is the band's only charting album with a 27 week run topping out at Number 98. I see the band 'Coldplay' and can see how subliminally I put them in the 'serious' band category. Different bands! Oops!
I'm wrong and finish up winning the game with 12000 points as every board in the bar was wrong although that's not saying much. Me not knowing kept me glued to my stool as I couldn't blurt out the answer all around the bar. ROCKET with 12000 and LITBOX with 11983 are my final scores. I finish 6460th and 6465th in North America as compared to a top 10 finish if I'd hit it right. I only earn 1500+ Players Plus points for not meeting this week's 16000 standard. The bar is ranked 1853rd.

I'll miss the next two weeks with soccer games at the same time as Playback. I can't see myself dropping in just before Encore like a few weeks ago. I will probably be able to post the Encore question a few days late as a member of a message board I subscribe to posts a recap. So maybe in three weeks I'll be ready to start playing all over again with from 0 building a new streak.
