Encore Question of May 24th, 2003.
I wasn't playing this week

Answers:

  1. Lee Dorsey
  2. Earl King
  3. Lester Flatt
  4. Earl "Fatha" Hines
  5. Ernie K-Doe

I wasn't playing this week but stopped off while driving home after watching a soccer game in Oshawa at 50 kms away. I stopped at the Frog & Firkin and got here about five minutes before the Encore question offering help to Richard and Bill.

The answers come up and I'm thinking of some old timers. I've heard of a few of these guys.

Encore Question: This musician's songs include "Come On (Let the Good Times Roll)":

.

.

I don't know this and am suddenly glad I'm not playing. I rule out Ernie K-Doe the "Mother In Law" novelty singer. I mention Earl Scruggs as part of the duet with Lester Flatt "Ballad of Jed Clampett". I tell Richard I'd go with Lee Dorsey thinking to myself about the "Working In The Coal Mine" singer. Bill says it may be Earl King. Well OK go with that. I'm trying to think of the song and can hear a woman singing it after ruling out a motorcycle jingle for Kawasaki. It takes me a day or so to realize it was Rita Coolidge.

Correct Answer:...2. Earl King

[NTN Extra Fact:...King was a flamboyant New Orleans guitarist.]

They're both wrong but with only two boards in the bar the network ranking [2319th] doesn't matter.
